Guide to Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag's 'Prizes and Plunder' memory. Learn how to use the spyglass, attack ships, use swivel guns, and plunder rum for optional objectives.
Walkthrough
- 1First things first, you'll need to get acquainted with your spyglass. Keep an eye on the on-screen prompts to know when to bring it out. Use it to scan the horizon and identify ships. The spyglass will tell you about the ship's class, its threat level, its armaments, and crucially, any cargo it might be carrying. This is key for completing one of the optional objectives: plundering at least 20 Rum.
- 2Sail around the area until you spot a Schooner. Once you've found one, maneuver the Jackdaw towards it. Engage it with your ship's weapons and bring its health down to a point where it's incapacitated. You'll know it's ready for boarding when a green beam of light appears from its top.
- 3Move the Jackdaw in close and hold down the indicated button prompt to initiate the boarding sequence.
- 4As soon as Edward lets go of the wheel, quickly make your way to the railing where the swivel gun is located. Hop onto the swivel gun and use it to target enemy sailors on the deck of the damaged ship. Your first optional objective is to kill three enemies with the swivel gun.
- 5After dealing with the swivel gun targets, clear out any remaining enemies on the enemy ship to complete the boarding sequence. A cutscene will then play.
- 6Once the scene is over, your objective marker will update, directing you back to Salt Key. Remember that other optional objective: plunder at least 20 Rum. If the Schooner you just looted didn't have enough rum, you'll need to continue sailing and using your spyglass to find another ship that does. Keep plundering until you've met the requirement.
- 7After returning to Salt Key, dock your ship and head into town. Your final task is to find the Harbourmaster and purchase the intermediate hull upgrade for 1000 Reales. Doing so will complete the mission.
Tips
- To complete the optional objective of using the swivel gun to kill three enemies, make sure to target sailors on the deck of the ship you're boarding.
- If you're struggling to find rum, keep an eye out for ships with a high cargo capacity, as they're more likely to be carrying it.
- You can also shoot powder barrels on the enemy ship with the swivel gun to make clearing out enemies easier.
- Don't forget to check the spyglass information carefully to identify ships that are likely to have rum.
- Intermediate Hull Upgrade (purchased for 1000 Reales)
