Be aware that if a character's statistic is marked with '**', it has reached its maximum and will not increase further with additional gear.

When equipping items that boost speed, if your speed is 16 before equipping, it will be pushed to '**'. Unequipping this item when the stat is '**' can result in a permanent loss of speed points. For example, if your speed is 15 and you equip an item that adds +2 speed to max it at 16, unequipping it when it's at '**' will cause you to permanently lose 2 speed points.
