Learn how to tackle Magus's Three Generals side-quest in Chrono Trigger. We guide you through Ozzie's Fort, the battles with Diva Flea, Super Slash, and Ozzie, and the rewards.

So, you're looking to take on Magus's old generals, huh? This is a pretty neat side-quest that pops up during "The Fated Hour" chapter. It's all about building up your party's strength to take down Lavos, and what better way than to re-challenge some old foes? Pro tip: Magus himself is the best character to bring along for this one. Hop into the Epoch and set your sights on Ozzie's Fort in the Middle Ages. When you arrive, Ozzie will welcome you, not realizing it's you guys! If Magus is with your crew, Ozzie will be pretty shocked, wondering why Magus is hanging out with humans and if he betrayed the Fiends. Follow Ozzie, and he'll summon Diva Flea, who's tougher than before but still a pretty easy fight. Next up, Ozzie's "fearsome guardians" show up, but they just fall into a pit – no battle there. Ozzie, protective of his stolen loot, runs off. In the next room, you'll face Super Slash, an upgraded version of Slash. Again, this should be a quick fight. Ozzie then sets up a treasure chest trap. Be careful! If you try to grab the goodies while Ozzie's on the balcony, your whole party's HP will be dropped to 1. Just walk past it. A Green Imp isn't so lucky and falls right into the trap. Heads up: There's a secret area in this room with some nice items for Magus, including a Magic Capsule. Look along the lower horizontal wall, towards the right side. Now for the main event: a three-on-one battle against Diva Flea, Super Slash, and Ozzie the Great! They'll unleash their powered-up gear. If Ayla's in your party and has Charm, this is a great chance to steal some items from each of them, though you might need a few tries, even with the Alluring Top equipped. This fight is manageable, but make sure you have a healer ready. Flea and Slash will be defeated, but Ozzie, as usual, escapes. Quick note: In the Steam version, Flea might escape if you defeat Slash first and Flea has very low HP. This, plus Flea's earlier bat form, might hint that the cat you see later is actually Flea in disguise! Finally, you'll reach the last room where Ozzie is waiting. If Magus is with you, Ozzie will be pretty salty, feeling like Magus just used him. This fight is similar to your previous encounter with Ozzie in Fiendlord's Keep. He'll activate his barrier, so you'll need to hit the switches like before. But surprise! It's another trap. Ozzie deactivates his barrier, saying "Gotcha!" A trapdoor opens, sending you back to the room where you fought the three generals. Back in the final room, Ozzie thinks you're wasting his time. Just as another fight is about to start, a Cat appears and flips the right switch. Ozzie freaks out, "NOT THAT BUTTON!" and falls into an unknown location, presumably defeated for good. After returning to the Epoch and heading back to the Present, you'll notice things have changed in Medina Village. The Fiends and Humans are at peace, and Imps are in charge. The market and inn prices are lower, and the Fiends no longer worship a statue. You'll even see Ozzie VIII serving as a butler to a Blue Imp mayor. And that's the end of this side-quest!
