8. Fun Levels

Discover how to access Doom 64's secret Fun Levels (Cat and Mouse, Hardcore, The Playground) via password or by beating Hectic, and utilize the powerful Features menu.

Levels 25, 26, and 27 are secret "Fun Levels" in Doom 64. You can access them by either beating Level 32: Hectic, or by entering the password ?TJL BDFW BFGV JVVB. Upon doing so, you will start a new game at Level 1 with all weapons, full ammo, and on the easiest skill level. You can then access the "Features" menu by pausing the game. This menu allows you to warp to any level (except The Absolution, Outpost Omega, The Lair, In the Void, and Hectic), turn on Invincibility, set your health to 100%, get all guns, and toggle the Full Automap with Object Indicators. The Features menu remains active until you reset your console. To regain access, beat Hectic again or re-enter the password.

To warp to a Fun Level, use the D-Pad or control stick to scroll through the level select menu until you find "Cat and Mouse" (also known as Hardcore or The Playground). Select it with C-Right.

Info about each Fun Level:

Cat and Mouse

You begin facing a Cyberdemon. Immediately run right to avoid its attack. Proceed right from your starting position, then turn left and enter the opening to your left to find the Rocket Launcher and ammo. Collect the Boxes of Rockets scattered throughout the level to replenish ammo. Defeat the Cyberdemon, being mindful of its occasional teleports. Once the Cyberdemon is defeated, the level is cleared.

Hardcore

This level features scattered Mancubi. Locate a platform containing a Plasma Gun and a MegaSphere. Upon reaching the platform, collect the Plasma Gun, MegaSphere, Backpack, and Energy Cell Packs. Subsequently, Arachnotrons will appear; eliminate them all. Following this, a Cyberdemon will spawn (you do not need to kill the initial Mancubi). Be aware of its teleports and defeat it using the Rocket Launcher and Plasma Gun, or by letting any surviving Mancubi engage it. The level is completed after the Cyberdemon is killed.

The Playground

The level is filled with pillars, each guarded by an Arachnotron. Invisibility Spheres are also plentiful. Eliminate all Arachnotrons. Afterward, a Megasphere will appear in the center of the room. Collect it, and a Cyberdemon will spawn. Defeat the Cyberdemon, followed by the Mancubi that appear in the same room. Completing this level will advance you to Level 1.
