He can be a companion and even a romance option if you're playing as a female elf Inquisitor. Background: Solas grew up in a small village north of Ferelden. He doesn't really identify as Dalish or a city elf, and he's actually pretty critical of both. He found the Dalish to be too caught up in superstition and clinging to the past, while he felt city elves didn't have the power to change their circumstances. He tried to share the truth about elven history with a Dalish clan, even convincing them he was Fen'Harel, but they attacked him.
