Master the Hunter class in Dragon Age: Inquisition with our expert guide. Learn optimal ability unlocks, powerful combos like Hook and Tackle/Leaping Shot, and recommended weapons for maximum damage.
The Hunter is a ranged damage dealer in Dragon Age: Inquisition's multiplayer. This guide covers ability progression, recommended skills, and effective combat strategies to maximize your effectiveness.
Unlock Order:
- Start with Leaping Shot and Evade, then upgrade them.
- At level 9, get the upgraded Hook and Tackle.
- Choose either Full Draw (for boss damage) or Explosive Shot (for crowd control). Upgrade all abilities except Full Draw if you chose it (level 12).
- At level 15, take On the Razors Edge.
- Acquire the rest of the passives.
Strategy:
The Hunter excels at high burst damage and controlling enemy engagement. Stealth is generally not recommended due to its long cooldown, with Evade offering more utility.
Recommended Abilities:
- Hook and Tackle: Pull yourself to an enemy. Upgraded version has no stamina cost and no cooldown.
- Leaping Shot: Deals 12 hits of 50% weapon damage each. Upgraded version adds a follow-up shot dealing 200% damage and knocking down the target.
- Evade: A quick dodge. Upgraded version creates a damaging hologram when hit.
- Full Draw: Deals 800% weapon damage, with an additional 800% if the target is at full health. Upgraded version puts the target to sleep for 20 seconds.
- Explosive Shot: Deals 100% weapon damage in a radius. Upgraded version grants a damage bonus per target, up to 100% maximum.
Mandatory Passives:
- On the Razors Edge: Grants a 15% damage bonus when within 10 meters of enemies.
- Death From Above: Grants a 25% maximum damage bonus when 2 meters above enemies.
- Pincushion: Each consecutive hit increases damage by 5% for 10 seconds.
Combat Combo:
- Lead with Explosive Shot or Full Draw, utilizing the double shot trick.
- Use Hook and Tackle to pull yourself to a high-priority target (stalkers, knights, brutes, archers).
- Immediately follow up with Leaping Shot. This combo stuns enemies, preventing them from blocking, and can kill most non-boss enemies with a good bow.
- If Leaping Shot is on cooldown, use Hook and Tackle combined with Evade to maintain survivability and interrupt enemy attacks.
