Guide to Dragon Age: Inquisition's 'What Yet Lingers' quest. Learn how to deal with thugs, get boat access, close a Fade Rift, and acquire the Aegis of the Rift ability.
Alright, so you've finished chatting with Professor Kenric near that house. Time to get moving! Head east from there, and you'll reach some docks. Keep an eye out, because you'll find Fisherman Arvid getting hassled by a few thugs. Don't worry, they'll wait for you to get close before they jump you. Take care of them, and then chat with Arvid. He'll let you use his boat, but only if you get the okay from the local Avvar leader, Svarah Sun-Hair. She's hanging out to the northeast in a place called Stone-Bear Hold. Good news is, the first time you talk to her, she'll give you the green light for the boat right away.
Now that you've got Svarah's permission, head back to Arvid to let him know. You'll find the boat waiting for you at the very end of those eastern docks. Once you're ready to sail, make your way south-east from the docks at Lady's Rest. You're looking for a small hut. Inside, you'll discover a Fade Rift. Go ahead and open it up – there's a spirit in there who'll spill some beans about the old Inquisitor. After that little chat, make sure to loot the body nearby. Doing so will push the quest forward and, more importantly, snag you a sweet new ability called Aegis of the Rift.
This Aegis of the Rift ability is pretty neat. It lets you summon a barrier that'll block incoming projectiles. You can even upgrade it later on from the Inquisitor ability tree if you want to make it even stronger.
With all that done, you can now head back to Professor Kenric. Just a heads-up, if you decide to go back to the boat directly, you'll have to fight a bunch of Hakkonites. If that sounds like too much trouble, your best bet is to just use the map to fast travel to the Basin Floor Camp. Alternatively, you can always just make a mad dash through the enemies to get to the boat without stopping to fight them.
