Continue your Half-Life walkthrough through Part 8, covering the security cage, electrified rooms, and autoturret encounters. Find items and defeat enemies.
You'll start by navigating a corridor past a storage area filled with wooden crates. Bash these crates and run over orange scuttlebugs until you reach the loading point for section c1a2d.
Section c1a2d: Shotgun and Security Cage
Bash all wooden crates except for the largest one, as a headcrab is on the other side. Crouch-walk slowly past it to get into position to sneak-attack the headcrab. The guard in the cage might also shoot it. After dealing with the headcrab, bash the crate and proceed to find a shotgun and shells on a green crate. You may need to jump onto the crate to collect all items.
As you approach the caged area with a security guard, a zombie will appear. Shoot it once with your pistol to draw its attention, then let the guard finish it off and open the gate. Before entering the cage, drop to the lower floor, bash crates to find a health pack and an armor battery. Climb the ladder to the higher floor, go through the gate, and grab ammo from the green crate near the guard.
Talk to the guard to make him follow you, then proceed down the hall to the room past the cage. A headcrab is in an overhead vent. Run to the back of the room to lure it out, then quickly back up and strafe to make it miss and get shot by your guard. Collect all ammo in the room, then return through the cage gate to section c1a2.
Section c1a2 (again): Electrified Room and Autoturret
Lead your guard to the D-AL 101 room's broken window so he can shoot the headcrab inside. Leave him there and crouch-jump onto the window sill. Pull the nearby table towards you by facing it, holding the "Use item" key, and moving backward. Once the table is next to the window, get back on the sill and crouch-walk onto the table.
Jump from the table to the large counter on the right, then over the sink (its water is electrified). Jump from the end of the counter to a small table near the first aid station, then to a small counter with a dead headcrab. Use the light switch to turn off the electricity.
Locate the vent shaft to the left of the light switch counter. Stand in front of it with your flashlight on. There are three headcrabs inside; wait for them to approach the grating and shoot them through it. After killing them, bash off the grating and crouch-jump into the shaft. Before entering, go to the large cabinet to the right of the first aid station, open its door, and find an armor battery inside.
Move through the shaft, staying crouched under a large fan. Headcrabs may fall into the fan and be killed, or you can just proceed. When you reach a grating, bash through it and move forward to fall into a hallway. Open the doors you couldn't access before, get your guard to follow, and take cover behind a metal crate as he deals with drop-down headcrabs.
After the headcrabs are dead, tell your guard to wait. Push the small metal box under the broken ladder in the ceiling. Use the box to jump onto the ladder. Climb it and move to a large bashable grating in the floor. Bash it with your crowbar and get your pistol ready to shoot the headcrab that appears as you drop down.
Turn around and bash out the wall grating, but don't drop through yet. Move forward to activate the noisy autoturret, then quickly retreat. After it shoots a scientist and a headcrab, wait for it to power down, then quicksave.
To access extra items, drop to the floor, turn right, and push the leftmost wooden crate as far as you can. Bash it to clear your path. Use the switch on the metal control box to turn off the autoturret.
Grab the bullet clip from the middle of the room. Go through the red-outlined doorway to the left of a dead scientist and check the green crate and shelves for ammo. Find the red door, push it open to return to your guard, and have him follow you. Push and pull the small metal box to the turret room. Use it to get onto the large metal box near the turret's platform, then jump to the platform to access the area.
