How to Find the Best Backpacks

Get Mefino's Trade Backpack (110 capacity) with 2 Power Coils, or the Scaled Satchel (60 capacity) that negates dodge penalties.

Mefino’s Trade Backpack

This backpack offers a generous 110 capacity and can be acquired relatively early in Outward. You will need two Power Coils and the ability to defeat bandits.

Acquiring the Power Coils

Power Coils have a small chance to be found in any dungeon's Ornate Chests, Caches, or regular Chests. A more reliable method is to purchase them from Engineer Orsten in the south-east of Levant. He sells four Power Coils for 114 silver each.

Where to Find the Backpack - Montcalm Clan Fort

Once you have the Power Coils, head to Montcalm Clan Fort, located in the north of Chersonese and marked as ‘Bandit Camp’ on the map. Go to the westernmost point of the camp and enter the small building in the corner. Place the Power Coils into the two holes in the wall to open a storage room containing the backpack.

Scaled Satchel

The Scaled Satchel is one of only two backpacks that negate the movement penalties of dodging. It has a capacity of 60. To craft it, you need three Scaled Leathers and one Primitive Satchel. A Primitive Satchel can be found in your lighthouse home in Cierzo or purchased from various merchants. Scaled Leathers can be bought from Soroborean Caravanners or looted from enemies like Royal Manticore, Manticore, Alpha Tuanosaur, Crescent Shark, Illuminator Horror, Phytoflora, Shell Horror, Stekosaur, and Tuanosaur.

Light Mender’s Backpack

This backpack provides 75 capacity and acts as a faint light source, offering +10% Lightning damage. It is a reward for completing the quest Strange Apparitions.

Alchemist Backpack

With 60 capacity and 75% food preservation, this backpack significantly slows food decay. It can be purchased from Shopkeeper Suul in Levant, Abrassar, for 130 Silver.

Adventurer Backpack

If you need a backpack that negates dodge penalties but have low carry capacity, the Adventurer Backpack is an option. It costs 60 Silver and can be purchased from Shopkeeper Pleel in Berg, Shopkeeper Lyda in Monsoon, or Shopkeeper Suul in Levant.
