Alone Again

Follow our guide to navigate the 'Alone Again' section of Rise of the Tomb Raider, including finding collectibles and starting side-missions.

Alright, you've just exited the cave and grabbed that box of reagents. As you step outside, you'll find a new Base Camp called 'Hidden Refuge'. Take a moment here to sort out any upgrades or skill points you've been saving up. Once you're ready, we'll push on.

From the 'Hidden Refuge' Base Camp, you'll want to drop down the cliffs to the west. This will lead you back to the entrance of the cave we explored earlier. Now that the Monolith is activated, look around the clearing by the cave entrance – you should spot a Coin Cache [02/09]. After that, cross the river and make your way towards the 'Logging Camp' Base Camp.

Head to the side of the building that's opposite the fire. You'll see a section of wall that's held up by ropes. Use your Rope Arrows to pull it down, revealing an opening. Go inside to find a Strongbox [06/14] containing a Weapon Part: Sub-Machine Gun Component 01. Once you've grabbed that, head upstairs and into the main part of the building. You'll meet an ally there who has a side-mission for you called ‘The Unlucky Ones’. It's a good idea to pick this up now!

While we could head straight for the Copper Mill on the eastern side of the map to continue the main story, the game offers up a few side-quests right now that are definitely worth your time. There are four available in this area, and tackling them will net you some great gear upgrades and a good chunk of XP. Plus, it's a perfect excuse to hunt down some extra collectibles.

Here are the four side-missions available in the Soviet Installation, listed in the most efficient order to tackle them:

1. Side-Mission: The Unlucky Ones
2. Side-Mission: Misguided Intelligence
3. Side-Mission: Dangerous Territory
4. Side-Mission: Gulag Recon
