This guide details the initial steps in Routine, focusing on acquiring and using essential tools like the C.A.T. tool and navigating early game environments. It covers printing your ID, accessing elevators, and using terminals to progress through Chapter 1: Birth.

Walkthrough

After the cutscene, approach your helmet on the wall and press E/M1.

Look at the computer screen to the right of where the helmet was.

Click the FORM tab and complete the tutorial.

Press the PRINT tab and PRINT ID. Grab the fallen ID by crouching (CTRL + Space) and pressing E/M1.

Go to the computer beside the door and press OPEN DOOR. Leave your room and walk left.

Go to the room to the right of the panoramic screen (meeting room A01) and then the second door on your right.

In the meeting room, collect your C.A.T. tool from the second table on the left.

Use the computer on the right side of the meeting room to open another door and find batteries (blue-colored).

To power the C.A.T. tool, press R to view its charge and ensure a battery is inserted.

Connect to the screen on the wall by pressing R, then the Wireless Access Point button (triangles and lines symbol) while near the projection.

Go to the DATABASE page and note the elevator keycode (e.g., 4832 - this is randomized per player).

Go to the elevator door and enter the keycode on the keypad. Press OPEN DOOR.

Inside the elevator, press GATEWAY on the computer to access the next area.

Exit the elevator and walk left to the ASN terminal. Listen to the voice recording.

Go back toward the elevator and look right at the Tram Station.

Follow the cables from the gate to the box on the wall above the note. Aim with M2 and fire a pulse with M1 using your C.A.T. tool to open the gate.

Walk through the opened gate to the Tram Station.

Approach the Tram and use the computer screen inside to choose a location. Select the Mall.

At the Mall, go to the front desk and press the IC assistance button. Follow the droid over the computer.

Log in using your ID number (found on the front of your suit, e.g., 9601 - this is randomized per player).

Select Business or Pleasure as your purpose. An error will pop up.

Go back to the front desk, press IC assistance again, and follow the IC bot to a different entrance.

Climb down the ladder.

Walk straight to the Wireless Access Point. To the right, follow cables to an electrical box on the wall. Aim with M2 and fire with M1 to open a hatch.

Press CTRL to climb through the hatch.

Inside, a gate closes. Crouch and look under the Checkout desk for a red button. Press it.

Hide behind the desk as a bot breaks open the gate.

Once the gate is open and the bot is clear, run left, then right toward Galaxy Video.

Walk down the hall to the right of the Access Point (left side of Galaxy Video) to the security room. Read the note on the door; the meeting is moved to MEGAZONE.

Go back to the plant area before the video store, through Union Plaza, and straight toward the panel of screens. Take a left.

Go down the hall, take a right, and crouch (CTRL) under the shutters into MEGAZONE.

In MEGAZONE, find a powered-on arcade machine (back row with Gunshow image) and press E/M1 to interact and play for an achievement.

Tips

When looking for your ID, you may need to crouch to pick it up.
The elevator keycode and your ID number are randomized for each player. Always check the Database or your suit for the correct codes.
When encountering hostile bots, avoid them by running or hiding. Combat is not possible.
Use Wireless Access Points to save progress and view current tasks.
The C.A.T. tool requires batteries, which have three uses per battery. Monitor its charge by pressing R.
