Discover all the secrets of Centropolis in Star Ocean: The Last Hope. Find treasures, complete quests, and learn about important shops and items in this detailed guide.
Centropolis has a lot to see. Head north from the elevator to enter the main part of the city. There is an inn, the Capsule Resort, in the southwest. You can rest and save your game here. The Psychic Girl sitting inside Capsule Resort will charge your Disintegration Rings for a fee.
There are some Shops around the city's perimeter and the Shopping Arcade in the center houses eight different shops. Speak with Katrina, Believer in Fate, east of Capsule Resort. She is a friend of Myuria's and she will give you a Funereal Bouquet, along with Recipe Memo 26 so you can make more. These items will become extremely important soon, if you have been working toward character endings.
Before entering the Shopping Arcade, check out the two shops on the north side of the city. Green's Skill Guild sells all sorts of Skill Manuals and there are some you definitely will want to buy. Give the Skill Manual "Zoology" to Sarah and she will be able to increase your chance to obtain item drops from Animals. The Skill Manual "Fast Cast" is a must-have for Lymle and Myuria. This Battle Skill reduces the time it takes to cast a Symbol. Your melee fighters all should know the No Guard skill and it is useful on other characters, too. If you haven't taught Arumat the Critical Hit skill, do it now.
The Unyielding Man east of the Skills shop will offer you the quest, A Distinguished Rarity.
East of the Unyielding Man, you will find the Flora/Fauna Laboratory. Talk to Nimahl, Flora/Fauna Laboratory Chief, at the Front Desk. After telling you that the Wind Ring is buried in the cemetery, he will show you his wares. He sells a few items you can use in Item Creation, and he has a ton of Shop Orders. Inside the Laboratory, speak with the Young-at-Heart Researcher to get The Elusive Female Firefly quest.
Visit the cemetery in the far northwest part of the city and read the grave stone identified with a Point of Interest marker on the in-game map. To solve the grave stone's riddle, go up the stairs to the southwest. Examine the tree there and you will obtain the Wind Ring. You can try it out right away. On the east side of the city, talk to the Jealous Wife standing beside a Treasure Chest. She will ask you to complete her quest, The Unopenable Chest. Use the Wind Ring on the chest and give her the Secret Diary from inside.
While checking out the Shops of Centropolis, don't spend all your hard-earned Fol for equipment sold at the shops in the Shopping Arcade. On the far east side of the city, due east of Capsule Resort, enter the grassy area to find an entrance to the hidden Imitation Gallery shop. It sells higher quality equipment than the shops in the Arcade. You may want to pass on the Mysterious Scepter because you will find a better weapon for Myuria soon. The Holy Chainmail is nice for Reimi or Meracle, but only buy one. You can get another when you get to the Sanctuary. The Treasure Chest inside the shop contains Recipe Memo 23, which lets you make an Anti-Curse Amulet via Item Creation.
You will find another friend of Myuria's in the northwest corner of the Shopping Arcade. The Free-Spirited Woman wants to break onto the music scene and will ask for your help with the Guitar Maker quest. One of the shops in the northeast corner of the Arcade isn't open. Talk to the Magical Chef standing on the wrong side of the counter and accept her quest, Where's the Recipe. If you complete her quest, she will open the Magical Foods shop.
When you finish shopping and accepting quests/shop orders, go back to the elevator south of Centropolis and select the Old Road to the Sanctuary destination.
