Dungeon 4: Hyrule Castle

Master the Yuga boss fight in Hyrule Castle! Learn his painting attacks, how to identify the real Yuga, and the best strategies to defeat him in The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.

Alright, so you've made it to Hyrule Castle and it's time to face Yuga again. Don't worry, he might have some new tricks, but we'll get through this together!

Stats / Weaknesses:

• Yuga: Vulnerable to sword slashes, hammer, and Tornado Rod. Arrows no longer work.
• Fake Yugas: Do not attack these.

Phases:

1. Initial Encounter: Yuga emerges and attempts a painting attack. You can interrupt this by hitting him quickly.
2. Wall Merge: Yuga and two fakes merge into the walls. Follow the real Yuga's painting to track him.
3. Enraged Yuga: After taking damage, Yuga's attacks become tougher.

Strategy:

• When Yuga appears, look for the one with a glowing flame on his staff – that's the real one! Ignore the fakes.
• If you can hit him fast enough, you can stop his painting attack. Your sword, hammer, or Tornado Rod will work, but arrows won't.
• Be careful: even if you hit Yuga, his fakes will keep attacking.
• Once Yuga merges into the wall, keep an eye on his painting to see where he's going next.
• Painting Attacks to Watch For:
  • Yellow (Lightning): Lines of lightning will fill most of the room. Your best bet is to merge into a wall to avoid the damage.
  • Green (Soldiers): Yuga summons soldiers from the wall. When he's angry, four stronger soldiers will appear. Use your Hammer or Tornado Rod to stun them, then quickly slash them with your sword. If you get cornered, merge into a wall to escape.
  • Red (Fireballs): Fireballs circle the entire perimeter of the room. Just stay in the middle to avoid them.
• Keep your cool, even when he gets angry. Just keep using the same tactics to wear him down.
• After you finally best Yuga, follow him through the door ahead. You'll find yourself on a balcony outside the castle. Smash any pots if you need hearts, then head all the way to the left.
• Go through the next door, and you'll be in what looks like Zelda's room. Head up to the curtain that's flapping in the wind and slash it with your sword.
• The curtain will fall, revealing a gap in the wall. Merge into the wall right next to the gap, and then walk into the gap. You'll be through!
