Ancient Egypt in Age of Empires IV occupied almost the same geographical area as modern Egypt. Its civilization remained concentrated very close to the Nile River. Due to being almost entirely surrounded by desert, potential enemies could only approach from specific directions: the west and southeast along the Mediterranean coast, from the south by traveling down the river valley, or directly from the sea.
