The Sumerians represent one of the earliest civilizations encountered in Age of Empires IV. Their development and expansion were intrinsically linked to the fertile lands found in river valleys. Unlike some other civilizations, they did not possess abundant mineral resources or a naturally advantageous strategic position, which meant their existence was less fortunate than that of the Egyptians.
