Mission 1: The Awakening marks your inaugural mission as the Global Liberation Army (GLA) in the Command & Conquer: Generals expansion, Zero Hour. This mission serves as an introduction to the GLA's unique playstyle, emphasizing guerrilla tactics, resourcefulness, and the use of salvaged technology. Your objective is to disrupt enemy operations and establish a presence in the region.

The GLA operates differently from the more technologically advanced factions. They rely on speed, surprise, and the ability to adapt. Instead of traditional power plants, they use structures that generate power passively or through captured generators. Their units are often less armored but more numerous and cheaper to produce. This mission will introduce you to these core concepts as you face off against a technologically superior enemy.

Mission Objectives:

1. Destroy the Enemy Power Generator: The primary objective is to cripple the enemy's power supply, hindering their ability to produce units and structures.
2. Destroy the Enemy Barracks: Eliminate their infantry production facility to prevent reinforcements.
3. Destroy the Enemy War Factory: Halt their vehicle production to prevent armored assaults.
4. Destroy the Enemy Command Center: The ultimate goal is to dismantle their main command structure, sifying a complete victory.

Walkthrough Strategy:

You begin with a small group of GLA units, including Rebel Fighters and a few Terrorists. Your initial focus should be on gathering resources. The GLA's primary resource is money, which is obtained from salvaged goods and captured structures. Locate the nearest salvage piles on the map and send your Rebel Fighters to collect them. You'll also notice a neutral Power Generator nearby; capturing this will provide you with a steady income of money and power.

To capture structures, you need to use your Rebel Fighters. Select a Rebel Fighter, right-click on the neutral Power Generator, and they will begin the capture process. Once captured, it will begin generating money. You can also capture enemy structures later in the mission to gain their benefits.

Your first offensive push should target the enemy's Power Generator. Use your Rebel Fighters to engage any enemy infantry, and then deploy your Terrorists to destroy the Power Generator. Terrorists are suicide units, so use them wisely. Once the generator is destroyed, the enemy will be significantly weakened.

Next, advance towards the enemy Barracks. You'll likely encounter some enemy infantry defending it. Use your Rebel Fighters to suppress them while you bring up more Terrorists to destroy the Barracks. After the Barracks are down, focus on destroying the enemy War Factory. This will prevent them from fielding any significant armored threats.

The final objective is to destroy the enemy Command Center. By this point, the enemy should be severely crippled, with limited resources and production capabilities. Use your remaining Rebel Fighters and any salvaged units you might have acquired to assault and destroy the Command Center. Be aware that the enemy might have some defensive structures or units remaining, so approach with caution.

Key GLA Units to Use:

• Rebel Fighter: Your primary infantry unit. Good for collecting salvage, capturing buildings, and engaging enemy infantry.
• Terrorist: A suicide unit that deals massive damage to structures and vehicles. Essential for taking down key enemy buildings.
