The Global Liberation Army faces its ultimate test in Mission 9, "The Final Stand." This mission is a desperate defense against overwhelming odds, where every unit and every decision counts. Prepare to rally your forces, fortify your positions, and make a last, defiant stand against the technologically superior forces arrayed against you.

Your objective in "The Final Stand" is to survive waves of enemy attacks and hold out until reinforcements arrive. This is a pure survival mission, demanding exceptional defensive strategy and resource management. You will start with a moderately sized base and a decent force, but the enemy will relentlessly assault you from multiple directions.

Key units for your defense include the Scud Launcher for its devastating area-of-effect damage against clustered enemies, the Scorpion Tank for mobile defense and flanking, and the Tunnel Network for rapid troop deployment and redeployment across the map. The Stinger Site is your primary anti-air defense, and you'll need plenty of them.

The enemy will deploy a wide array of units, including advanced Allied and Soviet vehicles and aircraft. Expect heavy armor, fast-moving units, and persistent air assaults. Your initial focus should be on expanding your power generation and building a strong defensive perimeter. Place Stinger Sites and Anti-Tank Gun emplacements along likely enemy approach routes.

The map often features multiple entry points for the enemy. Identify these and prioritize fortifying them. Consider creating kill zones where you can concentrate your firepower. Using the Tunnel Network strategically allows you to quickly reinforce threatened sectors or launch surprise counter-attacks on probing enemy units. Position your Scorpion Tanks to patrol these tunnels and respond to breaches.

As the waves of enemies increase in intensity, you will need to rely on your Scud Launchers. Target areas where enemy units are heavily concentrated. A well-placed Scud can wipe out a significant portion of an attacking force, buying you precious time. Remember that Scud Launchers are slow to reload and vulnerable, so protect them with other units.

A crucial aspect of "The Final Stand" is managing your limited resources. You'll need to balance building new defenses with producing offensive units to counter specific threats. Don't neglect your economy; keep your Harvesters safe and ensure you have enough power to sustain your defenses and unit production.

Pay close attention to the mission briefing for any specific objectives or hints about enemy attack patterns. Sometimes, destroying a particular enemy structure can temporarily halt or weaken incoming waves. If you find yourself overwhelmed, consider using the GLA's unique ability to sabotage enemy structures or vehicles with your Saboteur units, though this is a risky maneuver.

This mission is a true test of endurance. Stay calm, adapt to the enemy's tactics, and make every unit count. The arrival of reinforcements sifies your victory, so focus on surviving until that moment.
