Guide to Destiny's 'The Ruling House' mission: Learn how to defeat Skolas's Wolf Barons and Servitors on Earth, with tips for navigating the Grottos, Refinery, and Kings Watch.
Alright, Guardian! We're diving into 'The Ruling House' mission. Your main goal here is to stop Skolas from snatching power from the House of Kings, all happening on Old Russia, Earth. You'll be tackling this mission at around Level 26, but there are bonuses for being Level 30 and even better rewards, like a Mote of Light, if you're rocking Level 32. Let's get this done!
- 1You'll start in an area called The Grottos. Watch out for Acolytes, Thralls, a Boomer Knight, and a Shrieker right off the bat. Drop down into the main area where you'll find Vandals and Dregs. They're pretty exposed, so use the cover to your advantage. Your priority is to take out the Servitor – don't sweat the Hive and Fallen too much, they're busy fighting each other. Just be careful, those Vandals can snipe you with their Slap Rifles. Keep an eye out for Stealth Vandals at the far end of the cave; they love to ambush!
- 2Next up is The Refinery. The fighting between Fallen and Hive is still going strong here. Focus on taking down the tougher enemies first, like the Vandals and Knights. As you push towards the Rocket Yard, you'll run into a Captain and the second Servitor Variks mentioned. Zap it, and then head into the Rocket Yard. Your next stop is Kings Watch, a new zone with more Fallen waiting for you.
- 3In Kings Watch, start by picking off the Dregs as you make your way to a staircase. Be ready for Shanks and Vandals in the hallway. When you reach a more open area, you'll see Captains and Vandals on the upper levels, with Dregs down on your level. Take out the Dregs first, then make your way up to deal with the Captain. Watch out for Tracer Shanks on the staircase leading up to the Captain – they explode, so keep your distance!
- 4Finally, you'll reach the last area where three Wolf Barons await: Yavek, Paskin, and Vekis. You can fight them in any order, but make sure to prioritize the Servitors that can heal the Fallen. Cover is scarce here since the Fallen surround you, so use the hallway you came from as a fallback if things get too hectic. A good strategy is to clear out some of the smaller enemies first, then move in and out, picking off the Barons.
Completion: Once you've dealt with the Barons, head back and check in with Variks in the Reef. He'll have more intel on Skolas for you.
- The Servitors are a major pain because they heal your enemies. Always make them a priority target, especially during the final Baron fight.
- Don't get caught out in the open during the Kings Watch fight. Use the environment for cover, especially when dealing with the Captains and Shanks on the upper levels.
- The Wolf Barons can be tough, but they have predictable attack patterns. Learn them and you'll be able to take them down efficiently.
