Follow our step-by-step guide to complete Destiny's 'The Dark Within' mission, from The Steppes to the Lunar Complex and defeating Gotra.

Alright, Guardian! We're diving into 'The Dark Within' mission. It's a bit of a trek, but I'll walk you through it. First up, we're heading back to The Steppes, but this time, we're taking a slightly different route. Instead of going through the main open area, veer off towards The Mothyards. Your Objective Indicator will be your best friend here, but don't forget, there are some handy Loot Chests and Fallen enemies along the way, so a quick detour might be worth it.

Next, we'll be navigating The Mothyards. Think of it like an old, forgotten shipyard with plenty of aircraft ruins – perfect for cover. You'll find more Loot Chests here, but expect to run into a good number of Fallen. Keep an eye out for a Public Event; sometimes waves of enemies will show up, and helping out nets you some rewards. Before you head up to the Lunar Complex, make sure to check the left side along the cliffs. There's a good chance you'll find more Loot Chests stashed away there. The Lunar Complex itself is pretty big and usually has a Vandal Captain guarding it. Your best bet is to take down his shields with a well-thrown grenade, then rush in for the kill.

Once you enter the Lunar Complex, your Ghost will unlock a sealed gate. You'll find yourself in a pitch-black room, and this is where things get interesting – The Hive are here! These guys, called Thralls, don't use guns; they'll just rush you for some nasty melee damage. The trick here is to backpedal, aim for their legs to slow them down, and then land a solid headshot. If you're facing just one Thrall, a quick melee strike can take it out in one hit. You can also toss a grenade into any choke points where they tend to swarm; it'll deal a ton of damage and save you some ammo.

As you make your way upstairs, you'll encounter Gotra, The Hive Wizard. He's not exactly thrilled to see you. Gotra floats around, casting a cloud of darkness that not only heals his Hive buddies but also damages you. Use the crates for cover while you pick off the smaller Thralls, then lob a grenade to weaken Gotra. This is a great time to unleash your Super Ability – the game will guide you on-screen. Finish Gotra off with some headshots. Once he's down, any remaining Hive will disappear, and you can grab the Warping Claws. Take those back to your Vanguard in The Tower, and you'll get a piece of armor!
