Learn about the different Vex factions in Destiny, including the Hezen Corrective, Hezen Protective, Virgo Prohibition, Sol Divisive, Precursors, and Descendants, and their unique behaviors and tactics.

The Vex are a vast, unified network of thoughts, but not all Vex are the same. Different subtypes exhibit distinct behaviors and objectives across the solar system.

Factions

  • Hezen Corrective: Found swarming the Ishtar Sink, these Vex aggressively attack the Fallen House of Winter and perform inscrutable operations around Confluxes. They are believed to be agents of change, designed to remake the world in a form suitable to the Vex.
  • Hezen Protective: Concentrated around the Vault of Glass and Endless Steps, their behavior seems defensive but is a purposeful, colossal project whose ultimate goal is incomprehensible. They may be reacting to future events or working towards a historical goal.
  • Virgo Prohibition: These aggressive Vex subtypes on Mars constantly test the Cabal exclusion zone, appearing heedless of losses. Their tactics may be a distraction from a deeper strategic ploy or an algorithm that will drive the greater Vex network to adapt.
  • Sol Divisive: Dwelling in the Black Garden, these Vex behave religiously, a behavior adopted because it is more effective than any other. The Garden is a place of enormous power, and the Divisive transcend even the Vex's power.
  • Precursors: Ancient Vex encountered deep within the Vault of Glass, their casings built long before the age of humanity.
  • Descendants: Ancient Vex that exist in our future, suggesting their defeat may be impractical or unattainable, though time travel remains a mystery.

Goblin

The basic unit in the Vex network. Shattering its head causes it to enter a frenzy. They can blinkwalk (teleport short distances) to close in and overwhelm targets. They move slowly and don't take cover much. A Goblin with a Torch Hammer can be lethal due to exploding damage, but shooting the glowing midsection will shred them easily. Stick to cover and use primary weapons. Super Abilities are great for clearing waves. Shooting the head off causes them to charge forward, a good time to defeat them.

  • Tactics: Blinkwalk to close distance, overwhelm with numbers.
  • Weapons: Slap Rifle, Torch Hammer.
  • Weak Point: Glowing point in midsection.

Hobgoblin

Specialized for sniping, this lean, tough Vex model is fitted with improved optics and acute sensors in its horns.
