Follow our guide to conquer Dragon's Peak in Final Fantasy III, find hidden treasures like Phoenix Downs and Gold Needles, and learn how to handle the unavoidable Bahamut encounter.
Alright, welcome to Dragon's Peak! This area can be a bit confusing with all the paths, but don't worry, we'll get through it quickly. The main goal here is to find Desch, so let's not waste any time.
As soon as you arrive, just follow the main path for a little bit. You'll come to your first fork in the road. Hang a right (go south) here to snag a really useful Phoenix Down from a treasure chest. Now, head back to that fork and take the other path (the one going north/west). This will lead you to another fork pretty quickly.
This next part has a few more forks, so pay attention! After you pass this point, some cutscenes are going to trigger. Don't worry about them for now, just keep moving. Head back south to the fork you just passed and this time, take the western path. You'll find another fork, so go west again to discover a chest containing a Gold Needle. Once you've got that, return to the fork and this time, head north.
You'll eventually run into a scene, and then... Bahamut. Yeah, he's a tough one. The game even gives you a hint here: Steam players can press 'M' to flee. Honestly, you're not meant to win this fight, so just flee the battle. Bahamut is a god-dragon, after all, and you're not ready for him yet.
After that unavoidable encounter, there will be more cutscenes. You'll end up jumping off the mountain, and just before the scenes wrap up, you'll learn the Mini spell. That's pretty much it for this area!
