Navigate the Subterranean Lake in Final Fantasy III! Find powerful items like Zeus's Wrath and Gold Needles, and defeat the boss Gutsco to get the Horn of Ice.

Alright, so you've made it to the Subterranean Lake! Don't worry, this place isn't as big as some of the other dungeons you've been through, so it should be a breeze. Just keep your eyes peeled for treasure and be ready for a boss fight at the end.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
When you first arrive, head south along the path. You'll reach a larger area. Head east into it.
  2. 2
Look for a chest to the north. Open it up to snag a Gold Needle. Then, keep moving to the next area.
  3. 3
You'll want to go through the northeastern part of this area and follow the path to the next section.
  4. 4
Once you're in this new area, head south and then west. You'll find a chest containing Zeus’s Wrath.
  5. 5
Continue south and open another chest nearby. Surprise! It's more Zeus’s Wrath. Looks like the gods are feeling generous today.
  6. 6
Now, head northwest, then west. You'll see a path going north. Before you take it, go south to find another Gold Needle.
  7. 7
Head back north and take that northbound path. Grab the Gold Needle you'll find there.
  8. 8
Continue northeast and follow the path into the next area.
  9. 9
This next stretch is pretty straightforward. Just follow the linear path. Along the way, make sure to grab the two chests containing 3,000 Gil each.
  10. 10
You'll eventually reach a larger room. It's a good idea to heal up your party here before proceeding. Approach the enemy waiting for you – it's time for a boss fight!

Boss: Gutsco

This boss looks a bit intimidating, but we can handle him. He's Level 17, has 3,500 HP, and will give you 2,304 EXP and 3,500 Gil when defeated.

  • Gutsco has two moves per turn. He'll use a basic physical attack that hits for around 100 damage, and a water-based attack.
  • He can also cast Mini on your party or heal himself. If you have Mallets or the Mini spell, now's the time to use them if anyone gets hit with Mini.
  • Unfortunately, Gutsco doesn't seem to have any specific weaknesses, so your best bet is to go all-out with your strongest attacks, especially your “-ra” tier magic. Just keep an eye on your MP and heal up as needed.

After you defeat Gutsco, you'll receive the Horn of Ice. Nice work! Once you've got it, you can backtrack to the Dwarven Hollows or use Teleport to get out of here.
