Defeat Gizamaluke in final fantasy ix by using Tent to inflict Silence and Darkness. Steal an Elixir, Magus Hat, or Ice Staff.
Walkthrough
- 1As the battle with Gizamaluke begins, use a Tent to inflict ailments like Silence and Darkness. This makes its Water attack useless and reduces its accuracy with the physical attack, Crash.
- 2Gizamaluke primarily uses Water and Crash. If you attack with magic (it is weak to Thunder), it will counter with Silent Voice, silencing that character.
- 3Later in the fight, Gizamaluke will use Water on all characters. You will need to use Potions or Hi-Potions to heal as you lack an actual healer.
- 4You can steal valuable items from Gizamaluke, including an Elixir, a Magus Hat, and an Ice Staff (rare slot).
- 5With Silence and Darkness inflicted on Gizamaluke, the battle becomes much easier.
- 6After defeating Gizamaluke, you switch to Steiner at the Grand Citadel South Gate. Head up to the guards and you will be allowed inside.
- 7Once inside, go to the left and open the chest for a Multina Racket.
- 8To clear the alley in the upper right to find Dagger, speak to the lady first and choose an option to get her out of the way.
- 9Talk to the green NPC (non-player character — anyone the game controls, not you) by the gate on the left, choose either option, then speak to the Chief Engineer in the bottom right.
- 10The Chief Engineer will move, clearing the path to the alley. As you head there, a guard will approach and ask you to come to him. He drops a Gate Pass, which you automatically pick up.
- 11Return to the alley and you can free Dagger.
- 12With Dagger and Steiner, equip them with any available items.
- 13In this new area, there is a treasure chest containing a Potion on the left.
- 14Speak to the moogle named Grimo for a letter delivery quest via Mognet.
- 15A merchant is available on the right side of the area if you need to restock items.
- 16Climb the stairs and speak to the conductor to board the vehicle and continue the story.
- 17Move to the seats on the right to trigger a cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) and switch back to Zidane.
Tips
- Inflicting Silence and Darkness on Gizamaluke with a Tent significantly weakens its most dangerous attacks.
- Gizamaluke is weak to Thunder magic.
- Be prepared to use healing items like Potions and Hi-Potions as Gizamaluke's Water attack can hit all party members.
- The Ice Staff is a rare steal, so it may take multiple attempts to acquire.
- Remember to check Mognet with the moogle Grimo for a letter delivery quest.
