Walkthrough for Final Fantasy IX's Conde Petie section, covering side quests like Ragtime Mouse and Friendly Monsters, Blue Magic from Goblin Mage and Cactuar, and Chocograph #5.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
From the Outer Continent, head into the first forest and use the stutter step technique to find the Ragtime Mouse. Answer its questions correctly six more times to earn 21,000 Gil.
  2. 2
Find the Friendly Monster, Ladybug, who requires two Ores. She will reward you with an Ether and 20 AP. She will mention Yeti as the next Friendly Monster.
  3. 3
Follow the path until a split, then head east. You will pass under Conde Petie.
  4. 4
Continue until you find another Qu’s Marsh. This marsh is separate from the first one, and you can engage in Frog Catching here.
  5. 5
To get the Blue Magic spell Goblin Punch, defeat the Goblin Mage (983 HP).
  6. 6
To get the Blue Magic spell 1000 Needles, find the Cactuar on the path to Conde Petie. Be cautious as it has around 1,939 HP and is weak to fire. If your party has less than 1,000 HP, run away. Wait for the Cactuar to use Appearance to pop out of the ground before attacking to avoid its counter, 1000 Needles. You can also try to Eat it with Quina when it has around 1500 HP remaining. The spell costs 8 MP.
  7. 7
If you have Chocograph #5, return to Qu’s Marsh and head northeast to find chocobo tracks. Summon Choco and head south to the beach. Dig up the treasure for 9 Phoenix Pinions, 5 Phoenix Downs, 12 Peridots, and a pair of Diamond Gloves.
  8. 8
From the Chocograph treasure, travel west onto the raised land and continue until you reach Conde Petie, a village on a bridge sticking out of the mountains.
  9. 9
Upon entering Conde Petie, Quina, Dagger, and Vivi will leave Zidane. You must say the dwarves' greeting to enter.
  10. 10
Explore the area near the entrance to find 2700 Gil.
  11. 11
Enter the inn on the left to find an ATE (Active Time Event) called 'Quina Accused'.
  12. 12
After the ATE, find another ATE called 'Quina Can’t Communicate' by passing through other doorways.
  13. 13
In the inn, find 1800 Gil in the bottom left bed on the upper side.
  14. 14
Go east from the entrance to find an ATE called 'Dagger and William'.
  15. 15
Head right one more screen to find the item shop. Speak to Mogmatt, the moogle, and get the letter from him to Suzuna. Save your game here.
  16. 16
Find a Phoenix Pinion in the corner by the stairs.
  17. 17
Take the stairs. Before talking to Vivi (which advances the story), check the front of the boat structure in the middle of the area for a Diamond.
  18. 18
Speak to Vivi to trigger a scene and an ATE called 'Hungry Bryan'.
  19. 19
Return downstairs for another scene, which sets your next objective: find the Black Mage Village.
  20. 20
Visit the equipment shop (to the right of the item shop) before leaving Conde Petie.
