Complete the race mission in Mafia: The Old Country Part 52. Learn about Tommy's Brubaker 4WD, difficulty settings, and how to win.
Walkthrough
- 1Listen to Frank explain the stakes of the race: winning is crucial to avoid losing respect and money.
- 2Understand the race objective: complete five laps and finish in first place. Coming in second means losing all the money bet.
- 3If you have version 1.1 or 1.2 of the game, you can select the difficulty (very easy, easy, normal, hard, or extreme) and choose whether damage is enabled for Tommy's race car.
- 4Take control of Tommy's Brubaker 4WD, a car that excels in speed but struggles with turning traction.
- 5Navigate the track carefully, avoiding slippery grass and dirt areas. Slow down before sharp turns, coasting or braking slightly. Tap the acceleration and turning keys for broader curves, and hold the acceleration key for wider turns and exiting corners.
- 6Use the (radar (your minimap with nearby blips and threats marked)) to anticipate the track's shape and adjust your speed accordingly.
- 7If Tommy's car overturns and cannot right itself, use the Reset key (Num 0), but be aware that this takes time and can cause you to lose the lead.
- 8For version 1.0, a shortcut is available: after the first (checkpoint (an auto-save point you restart from on death)), turn left, follow the path, and after the checkpoint message, press Num 0 to restart from the beginning of the race. Repeat this process.
- 9For any version, consider using the "Mafia Hack V1.03" (see Mods section). Pressing 0 allows Tommy to win regardless of his finishing position, and pressing 9 lets him win in one lap.
- 10If Tommy wins, a cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) shows the race results, including lap times and finishing order. You can press F2 to hide the results and view the scenic background.
- 11After the race, a cutscene shows Tommy on the winner's podium.
- 12Attend a victory party at Salieri's Bar where Salieri congratulates Tommy and mentions Lucas Bertone has a reward for him.
Tips
- Practice repeating the race to get accustomed to slowing down for turns and using minimal braking.
- If you have version 1.1 or 1.2, using the "Mafia Swap 101" mod (a community-made modification that changes the game) allows you to choose which version of "Mafia" to play.
- The car Lucas worked on will not perform well and is removed from the track early in the race.
- The race features 12 competitors, with one car disabled from the start.
- One of the signs on the track wall reads "SAFETY FAST."
