Learn how to unlock and master the Brawler Archetype in Metaphor: ReFantazio. Discover its active and passive skills, synthesis skills, and strategic advantages.

The Brawler Archetype is unmissable and unlocked during the game’s opening events in Grand Trad. Once you befriend Catherina in the city during the game’s first major dungeon and timed event, you will be able to unlock the Brawler Archetype. You will need to spend some MAG to equip it to each of your characters. The Adept and Elite forms can then be unlocked by spending additional MAG as your reach Rank 20 with the previous Archetype in the Lineage.

The Brawler has access to 3 active Skills and 3 passive Skills:

  • Perfect Punch — Deals weak physical Strike damage to one enemy. Power proportional to caster’s remaining HP (41 HP)
  • Diligent Discipline — [Passive] Increases critical hit rate by 5%. Boost increases further if Archetypes of the same Lineage are present [Unlocked at Rank 3]
  • Skull Cracker — Deals weak physical Strike damage to one enemy. May inflict Forget [Unlokced at Rank 6]
  • Strike Dodge — [Passive] Increases Evasion against Strike attacks [Unlocked at Rank 10]
  • Battle Cry — Increases caster’s attack and defense for 3 turns [Unlocked at Rank 14]
  • Health Font — [Passive] Raises max HP by 15% [Unlocked at Rank 20]

The Brawler only has access to two Synthesis Skills:

  • Meteoric Fist — Deals weak physical Strike damage to all enemies 1-3 times (79 HP) [Allies needed: Warrior, Brawler, or Berserker Lineages]
  • Energy Ray — Deals heavy physical Light damage to one enemy. Power proportional to caster’s remaining HP (55 HP) [Allies needed: Seeker, Mage, or Healer Lineages]

While limited on options, these two damage dealing options are incredibly strong for a Basic Lineage form. The Light damage allows you to deal some necessary elemental damage, while Meteoric Fist can take advantage of a lot of enemy weaknesses early on. The one downside to these Synthesis Skills though is that they both use HP instead of MP, which requires you to have a Healer or a lot of healing items in your inventory.
