Unlock Strohl's full potential in Metaphor: ReFantazio with our comprehensive Bond guide. Learn about his abilities, archetypes, and rank-up events.
Strohl joins the Knights early in Metaphor: ReFantazio and becomes fully controllable and unlocks the Bond system upon reaching the Nord Mines and defeating the boss within. His Bond Ranks are optional and require speaking to him during free days or while traveling on the Gauntlet Runner. One event requires completing the Side Quest "A Noble’s Legacy," which necessitates having an Imagination Rank of 3.
There are eight Bond Ranks for Strohl, each unlocking new abilities and archetype advancements. Most ranks are achieved by simply speaking to Strohl on a free day, with one requiring interaction while traveling on the Gauntlet Runner. The Side Quest "A Noble’s Legacy" is the main exception, needing a specific Imagination Rank to progress.

Rank 1 Ability - Warrior Archetype
Strohl's Archetype Tree focuses on melee Slash attacks. This archetype is best utilized on the front lines and the skill "Slicer" is effective against single targets, assuming they do not resist it.
Rank 2 Abilities - Warrior Enlightenment and Undaunted Spirit
Warrior Enlightenment reduces the MAG cost to study any Warrior Tree Archetype (Warrior, Swordmaster, Samurai), which is particularly helpful early in the game when MAG is scarce. Undaunted Spirit increases Strohl's Critical Hit Rate against Human-type enemies.
Rank 3 Ability - Warrior Archetype: Adept
This rank unlocks the Swordmaster Archetype, a melee-focused class that excels at multi-target skills, making it easier to clear groups of enemies. Be mindful of the MP cost associated with these skills.
Rank 4 Ability - Scion’s Skill
Increases the Skill Inheritance Slots for Warrior Archetypes to 2, offering more flexibility in character builds by allowing the inheritance of skills from other physical Archetypes like Brawler.
Rank 5 Abilities - Warrior Veneration and Battle Aura
Warrior Veneration further reduces the MAG cost for studying Warrior Archetypes, making base Archetypes inexpensive to unlock and higher ranks more manageable. Battle Aura increases the EXP gained when Strohl is in the reserves.
