Master the Varmareno Coliseum Gold Gauntlet Challenge in Metaphor: ReFantazio. Learn enemy weaknesses, recommended strategies, and prepare for 30 consecutive battles.

The Varmareno Coliseum is unlocked after completing the Infiltration of the Charadrius during the Brilehaven chapter. Initially, only a limited number of battles are available. As you progress through the Ranked Battles, your rank will increase from Bronze to Silver, and finally to Gold, unlocking the Gold Gauntlet Challenge. It is advisable to wait until near the end of the story to attempt this challenge, as it is likely too difficult upon initial unlock.

The Gauntlet Challenges consist of 30 consecutive fights without any breaks or recovery. Preparation is crucial, as a single mistake can be costly, especially if you've progressed far. The primary reward for Gauntlet Challenges is a slight increase to your Courage Royal Virtue, along with potential item drops and experience from the fights. However, these challenges are generally not considered worth the time investment due to the rewards.

The Gold Gauntlet Challenge is the most difficult, featuring enemies ranging from the mid-50s to around level 70. The battles within the challenge are set, but their order is randomized. This means you might encounter the same battle multiple times consecutively, or miss certain battle formations entirely. Upon winning a fight, you can choose to continue or stop. Stopping ends the challenge, and attempting it again requires starting from the beginning.

Requirements:

• Reach Gold rank in the Ranked League.

If you are adequately prepared for the Ranked Battles, you should be ready for the Gold Gauntlet Challenge. It is highly recommended to have a good supply of Cursed Love Ballads, which restore 100 MP to the entire party (doubled with Item Connoisseur). Characters like Strohl with the Royal Warrior Archetype can be effective due to their area-of-effect skills. The Prince, utilizing Radiance, can be strong against enemies weak to Light. A Tycoon's Synthesis Skill can also be powerful if you have sufficient funds.

Gold Gauntlet Challenge Enemies

The enemy formations for the challenge are fixed, but their encounter order is random. This unpredictability necessitates thorough preparation.

• Noctiluca Papyrmas: A group of four, weak to Pierce, Wind, and Dark. Level 48.
• Greatmoth Nocurmos: A group of three, weak to Ice and Wind.
• General Malmortas: Four skeletons of varying types (Bow, Sword, Spear), all weak to Strike and Light.
• Spekto of Fury and Rigopetia: Three Spektos and one Rigopetia. Spektos are weak to Ice and Light; Rigopetia is weak to Ice. Area-of-effect Ice skills are effective, but the Rigopetia has high HP.
• Scourge Malmortas: Three skeletons, one of each type, weak to Strike and Light. Higher level than General Malmortas but with less HP. Mahamaon/Radiance skills are effective.
• Balmy Alento/Kaprasarto: Balmy Alento is weak to Fire and has lower HP. Kaprasarto is weak to Lightning and Dark and has significantly more HP.
• Kaprasarto/Raging Corvosta: Two Raging Corvostas, weak to Pierce and resistant to Wind. See Kaprasarto details above.
• Raging Corvostas: A group of four, weak to Pierce and resistant to Wind.
• Grotesque Chimenzahn: A single, high-HP enemy weak to Ice and Wind.
• Potolpo Bruas: Three exploding enemies, weak to Lightning.
• Bandits: Two of each type. Non-hooded are weak to Fire and Ice. Hooded bandits are weak to Pierce and Strike and possess the Assassinate skill; prioritize them.
• Spellwight Magileto/Skeletons: A Spellwight Magileto with low HP, weak to Strike and Light, along with two skeletons sharing the same weaknesses.
