Discover Amity Square in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl! Learn which Pokémon can join you, find valuable TMs, the Spooky Plate, Amulet Coin, and unique contest items.

Amity Square, located in the northern part of Hearthome City, is a unique area in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl where you can walk with one of your Pokémon outside of its Poké Ball. Not all Pokémon can be brought out here; only specific ones are allowed.

Pokémon Allowed in Amity Square:

  • Pikachu
  • Psyduck
  • Pachirisu
  • Buneary
  • Drifloon
  • Clefairy
  • Happiny
  • Turtwig
  • Grotile
  • Torterra
  • Chimchar
  • Monferno
  • Infernape
  • Piplup
  • Prinplup
  • Empoleon

The following Pokémon can only be taken to Amity Square after obtaining the National Pokédex:

  • Skitty
  • Torchic
  • Shroomish
  • Jigglypuff

Amity Square serves two main purposes: finding items and obtaining contest items.

Items Found in Amity Square:

  • TM43 (Secret Power)
  • TM45 (Attract)
  • Spooky Plate (used for Ghost-type Pokémon and Arceus)
  • Amulet Coin (hidden in a northeast building)

The second purpose is to acquire contest items. To get these, you must walk 200 steps within Amity Square (using a Pedometer is recommended). After walking the required steps, talk to your Pokémon, and it will give you a random contest item, ranging from common to rare. Many contest items are exclusive to this method. You may also find berries.
