Learn how to battle and trade with friends using the Pal Pad and connect to the Pokémon GTS website in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. Discover online features and tips.
This guide covers two online features in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl: battling and trading with friends via the Pokémon Center Wi-Fi, and using the Pokémon GTS website.
Pokémon Center Wi-Fi:
- Set up your wireless connection by following the "Set up a connection" guide. You'll need at least one badge to access this feature.
- Go to the downstairs area of any Pokémon Center.
- Speak to the lady at the front counter and agree to connect. This will grant you the Pal Pad.
- The Pal Pad is essential for communication. To trade or battle in the Wi-Fi area, you need the other person's name and Friend Code.
- Access the Pal Pad from your Key Items menu to:
- Check Friend Roster
- Register Friend's Code
- View Your Name and Code
- To register a friend, you need their Friend Code and Trainer Name.
- Your own code and name can be found in the Pal Pad; share these with others.
- Online options when a friend is connected include:
- Single Battle (options: lv 50, lv 100, free battle)
- Double Battle (options: lv 50, lv 100, free battle)
- Trade
- See Records (number of battles, trades, etc.)
- The microphone can be used for trading but not for battles. Headphones are recommended for clearer communication.
Pokémon GTS Website:
Launched September 14th, 2007, the GTS website tracks available Pokémon. It updates daily at 1:30 GMT and requires Flash to view. You can select from multiple languages, including English (USA), English (UK), Deutsch (German), Français (French), Espanol (Spanish), and Italiano (Italian).
The website offers the following features:
- The Daily Trades: Watch a movie showing recent trades, including the time, Pokémon involved, movesets, levels, locations, and distances. Information for non-native language Pokémon will be displayed in their native language.
- Trade Headlines: View the top 10 traded Pokémon, the number of Pokémon deposited, and top trading countries. This display can be slowed by hovering your mouse over it.
- Pokemon Search: Search for specific Pokémon using images. Clicking a Pokémon reveals data like height, weight, different country names, and daily Feebass deposits (including level, country, and time). You can switch Pokémon sets by clicking the box on the right. Note that data for certain event or unrevealed Pokémon (Mew, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Celebi, Jirachi, Deoxys, Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus) cannot be viewed.
- Ranking Data: See the top 50 most traded, most wanted, and most deposited Pokémon, along with ranking changes.
- Bookmark: Save specific Pokémon or countries for later viewing.
