Hareta tries to reason with Mitsumi, telling Regigigas not to attack her because she's his friend. Mitsumi seems touched, but Cyrus, who's watching, tells her to show no mercy, calling friendship an illusion. He's glad to see the 'old' Mitsumi back, especially after she'd previously abandoned her mission to destroy Professor Rowan's lab. It turns out Mitsumi remembers Professor Rowan teaching her to be kind to Pokémon, and she felt that with her Chimchar. Even so, she's sticking with Team Galactic, calling herself a 'war machine'. Hareta sees through it, though. He notices she's crying and points out that she cares about Pokémon and doesn't want to hurt them, and that her Pokémon know it too. Cyrus is furious, telling her to finish Hareta, but Hareta tells him to shut up and let them battle. Finally, Mitsumi decides she won't fight as part of Team Galactic anymore and disconnects her earpiece. Just as they're about to resume the battle, an earthquake hits! Regigigas and Piplup, riding on Surf, knock out Mitsumi's Pokémon. Mitsumi admits defeat, making Hareta the winner, and he can't help but smile.
