Explore Route 213 and Pastoria City in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. Find Chatot, get Ribbons, and prepare for the Great Marsh and Gym.
Walkthrough
- 1Head west from your current location to enter Route 213.
- 2Explore Route 213, noting the wild Pokémon available during different times of day: Buizel (25% Morning/Day, 35% Night), Shellos (35% Morning/Day, 45% Night), Chatot (20% Morning/Day), and Wingull (20% all day).
- 3When fishing, you can encounter Shellos (4% Surf), Gastrodon (1% Surf), Tentacool (60% Surf), Tentacruel (5% Surf), Wingull (30% Surf), Remoraid (35% Good Rod), Magikarp (65% Good Rod), Gyarados (65% Super Rod), and Octillery (35% Super Rod).
- 4If you have the National Pokédex, you may encounter Swellow (12%) using the Poké Radar (your minimap with nearby blips and threats marked).
- 5Note that some areas of Route 213 require Rock Climb to access.
- 6Locate the hut near the beach and speak with Dr. Footstep. If your lead Pokémon has high happiness, he will award it a Ribbon.
- 7Continue west to reach Pastoria City.
- 8In Pastoria City, you will find a Pokémart with various items including Poke Balls (200), Great Balls (600), Potions (300), Super Potions (700), Revives (1500), Antidotes (100), Paralyze Heals (200), Awakenings (250), Burn Heals (250), Ice Heals (250), Escape Ropes (550), Repels (350), Super Repels (500), Nest Balls (1000), Dusk Balls (1000), Quick Balls (1000), and Air Mail (50).
- 9The Move Tutor is in Pastoria City but requires a Heart Scale (found in the Underground or from wild Luvdisc) or specific conditions to teach moves. It is advised to ignore him for now.
- 10The scarf man in the easternmost house offers special scarfs if your Pokémon's contest stats are maxed out in specific areas, which is not achievable at this point.
- 11The Great Marsh, a Safari Zone-like area, is located in Pastoria City. It costs 500 Pokédollars for 30 balls and approximately 500 steps. The Pokémon available change daily.
- 12The NPC (non-player character — anyone the game controls, not you) at the beginning of the Great Marsh may give you a Yellow Shard.
- 13A berry lady near the entrance to Route 212 gives one new berry each day.
- 14Upon attempting to head to the Gym, your rival will appear and challenge you to a battle.
Tips
- Chatot is available on Route 213 but is generally too weak for battle, making it primarily a Pokédex entry.
- Ribbons from Dr. Footstep can be useful later in the game.
- The Great Marsh offers a chance to catch unique Pokémon like Croagunk.
