MAGCARGO isn't a Pokémon you'll find in the wild in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness. Instead, it's a Shadow Pokémon that you'll encounter during a specific mission. Keep your eyes peeled for it!

Shadow MAGCARGO Encounter

You'll face a Shadow MAGCARGO as part of the mission to rescue Jovi from the Shadow Pokémon Lab. This is a critical point in the story, so make sure your team is ready.

Battle Strategy

MAGCARGO is a Fire/Rock-type Pokémon. This means it's particularly weak to Water and Ground-type attacks, but resistant to Fire, Flying, Bug, and Normal-type moves.

• Weaknesses: Water, Ground
• Resistances: Fire, Flying, Bug, Normal

When battling Shadow MAGCARGO, remember that its Shadow Rush attack can be quite powerful. Try to exploit its weaknesses with strong Water or Ground-type moves from your Pokémon. If you don't have many of those, a strong Normal-type attack might also do the trick, as MAGCARGO doesn't resist them.

After you defeat the Shadow MAGCARGO, it will be purified and returned to its original trainer. You won't be able to catch this specific MAGCARGO yourself, but you can find and catch other MAGCARGO later in the game if you wish.

Pro-Tip: Having a Pokémon with a good Defense stat can help you weather MAGCARGO's attacks while you set up your own offense.
