Learn the basics of RuneScape Crafting! This guide covers making pottery, cutting gems, and crafting rings, necklaces, and amulets with experience and level requirements.
Hey there! Crafting is a super useful skill in RuneScape that lets you make all sorts of cool stuff, from jewelry that gives you stat boosts to simple pottery and even leather armor. Let's break down how to get started!
Making Pottery
First things first, you'll need some clay. Go mine some up, grab a jug, and fill it with water. Then, use the water on the clay to make soft clay. Head over to Barbarian Village – you'll find a pottery wheel there. Use your soft clay on it, and you can choose to make a pot, a pie dish, or a bowl. At level 1, you'll be spinning a pot. Once you've got your un-fired item, find a pottery oven and use the item on it to fire it up. Voila! A finished pot. You'll do the same process for pie dishes and bowls.
| Name | Exp. | Lvl |
| Spin Pot | 6 | 1 |
| Fire Pot | 7 | 1 |
| Spin Pie Dish | 10 | 4 |
| Fire Pie Dish | 15 | 4 |
| Spin Bowl | 10 | 7 |
| Fire Bowl | 15 | 7 |
Making Jewelry: Cutting Gems
This is where things get sparkly! You'll need to cut gems to make jewelry. The higher the gem, the more experience you'll get, but you'll also need a higher Crafting level.
| Name | Exp. | Lvl |
| Sapphire | 50 | 20 |
| Emerald | 67.5 | 27 |
| Ruby | 85 | 34 |
| Diamond | 107.5 | 43 |
| *Dragonstone | 127.5 | 55 |
*Dragonstone is for Members only.
Making Jewelry: Rings
You can craft rings with or without gems. Crafting a ring with no gem is a good way to start out and gain experience early on.
| Name | Exp. | Lvl |
| No Gem | 15 | 5 |
| Sapphire | 40 | 8 |
| Emerald | 55 | 18 |
| Ruby | 70 | 30 |
| Diamond | 65 | 42 |
Making Jewelry: Necklaces
Similar to rings, you can make necklaces with or without gems. The experience gains are a bit higher for necklaces compared to rings at similar levels.
| Name | Exp. | Lvl |
| No Gem | 20 | 6 |
| Sapphire | 55 | 10 |
| Emerald | 60 | 24 |
| Ruby | 75 | 40 |
| Diamond | 90 | 56 |
Making Jewelry: Amulets
Amulets are great because they can provide useful stat bonuses. You'll need a mold from a Crafting store, which you can find in places like Al Kharid or Rimmington.
| Name | Exp. | Lvl |
| No Gem | 30 | 8 |
| Sapphire | 65 | 13 |
| Emerald | 70 | 30 |
| Ruby | 95 | 50 |
| Diamond | 100 | 70 |
| *Dragonstone | 150 | 80 |
*Dragonstone amulets are for Members only.
To make any jewelry, you'll first need gold bars. Mine some gold ore and smelt it into bars at a furnace. Then, use a gold bar on a furnace while you have the desired jewelry mold in your inventory. You'll get a choice to add a gem if you have one – make sure to do it now, as you can't add gems later! If you want to string an amulet, you'll need to get wool from a sheep using Shears, spin it into string at the spinning wheel in Barbarian Village, and then use the string on your amulet.
Finally, if you've made an amulet, you can even enchant it using the right runes and spells. The chart below will show you what you need!
