Complete RuneScape The Grand Tree quest walkthrough. Talk to the King at the Grand Tree to start this quest.
Walkthrough
- 1Talk to the King at the Grand Tree in the northern Gnome Stronghold. He will give you a translation book and a bark sample.
- 2Take the bark sample to Hazelmere, located south of Ardougne on a spit of land near the magic guild town.
- 3Enter Hazelmere's house on top of the hill. Be aware of level 47 jungle spiders on the peninsula. Hazelmere will take the sample and show you a message.
- 4The translated message reads: "Human came with kings seal, Gave human Daconia rocks, Daconia rocks will kill tree".
- 5Return to the King at the Grand Tree. Select the translated message after choosing 'none of the above' three times.
- 6Go to Glough, located south and slightly west of the path. Talk to him, and he will say he will handle it. Return to the King.
- 7The King will inform you that someone has been caught and grant you permission to see the prisoner, Charlie, at the top of the tree.
- 8Talk to Charlie, who will tell you to search Glough's home.
- 9Return to Glough's house and search the cupboard to find a journal. A chest is also present, but you will receive its key later.
- 10Take the journal back to the King. He will dismiss your suspicions.
- 11Talk to Glough again. He will have you arrested and imprisoned next to Charlie at the top of the tree.
- 12While imprisoned, Charlie will tell you about warships being built on Karamja and give you a password for the shipyard foreman.
- 13The King will release you. Use the glider to travel to Karamja. Be aware of level 47 jungle spiders and level 58 Jogres in this area.
- 14Go to the shipyard and attempt to open the gate. The shipyard worker (level 44) will ask for a password. Select 'ka', 'lu', and 'min'.
- 15Talk to the foreman. He will ask three questions: "How is Glough's wife?" (She is dead), "What's Glough's favourite food?" (Wormhole), and "What is his new girlfriend called?" (Anita). Answering incorrectly will cause him to attack you, requiring you to restart with a new foreman.
- 16You will receive an invoice. Take it back to the King.
- 17You cannot return by glider as it was broken. Walking back will prevent entry by guards who suspect you are a spy. If you have completed the Tree Gnome Village quest, use the spirit tree at 'Gnome Maze Village' to transport back. Otherwise, talk to Femi at the gate. If you are her friend (having previously helped her with sacks), she will sneak you in once. If not, she will charge you 1000 gp.
- 18The King will again refuse to believe your accusations against Glough. Talk to Charlie at the top of the tree again.
- 19Charlie suggests talking to Glough's girlfriend, Anita, who lives near the swamp northwest of the Grand Tree.
- 20Talk to Anita. She will ask you to return a key to Glough, which is the key to the chest in his house.
- 21Open the chest in Glough's house to find another translation book and some notes.
- 22Take this evidence to the King. He will state that only four pebbles were found in Glough's house and give them to you.
- 23Using the translation book, you will discover that rearranging the pebbles spells 'open'.
- 24Go to Glough's house and proceed to the watchtower (requiring level 25 Agility).
- 25Use the pebbles with the stone stand on the watchtower in the following order: 'ho' on the far left, 'ni' in the center left, ':::' in the center right, and 'ha' on the far right.
- 26Warning: After pushing the stone stand, a level 175 Black Demon will attack you. Ensure you have prayer or food.
- 27After defeating the Black Demon, you will have a brief conversation with Glough. Follow the passageway to find the King.
- 28The King will express concern about your injuries and you will accuse Glough again.
- 29Guards will be sent to investigate. Once your story is proven, the King will ask you to find the last Daconia Stone. Search the roots in the area until you find a small glowing rock.
- 30Return the stone to the King to receive your reward. You will now be able to use the glider, and a mine will be accessible under the tree by pushing some roots. To access this mine in the future, enter the Grand Tree and move the tile in the floor.
Tips
- Using Das Pucko's map can be helpful.
- Bring prayer potions or plenty of food for the Black Demon encounter.
- If you get the shipyard foreman's questions wrong, you will have to start the shipyard sequence again.
- If you have not completed the Tree Gnome Village quest, ensure you have spoken to Femi before and helped her to avoid the 1000 gp fee.
