Learn about Street Fighter II Group Battle modes: Point Match and Elimination. Choose four fighters and battle until one player loses all characters.
Group Battle is a mode available only in Super Street Fighter II and Champion Edition. In this mode, you can choose between two distinct play styles: Point Match and Elimination. (The Genesis version also includes an option to return to the main menu.)
In either mode, you and your opponent each select four of your preferred fighters. When you lose a match with a character, that fighter is eliminated, and your next chosen character takes their place. This continues until you have lost all four of your characters.
The ultimate winner is determined by the mode you are playing. In Point Match, the winner is the one who scores the most points over four rounds. In Elimination, the winner is the one who survives and causes the opponent to lose all four of their characters.
- Consider the strengths and weaknesses of your chosen team of four fighters when selecting them for Group Battle.
- In Point Match, focus on landing combos and special moves to maximize your score in each round.
- In Elimination, a defensive strategy might be more effective to preserve your characters for longer.
