Learn about Street Fighter II's Arcade Mode, featuring a twelve-fighter ladder and three bonus stages. Discover the final boss order.

Arcade Mode in Street Fighter II involves taking on sixteen fighters in an arcade ladder structure, with three bonus stages interspersed throughout. The first eight opponents you face are randomized. However, the final four opponents are fixed: Balrog, Vega, Sagat, and M. Bison, in that specific order.

It is possible to play Arcade Mode as Player 2 without needing Player 1. While starting from the right side of the screen might feel awkward if you are accustomed to starting from the left, this option is available if you do not wish to change controllers or if you have accidentally plugged in the wrong one.

Tips
  • You will almost never fight yourself in Arcade Mode, unless you lose a match and are returned to the character select screen. If this happens, you can choose a different character, enter a fight with your previous fighter, lose, and then rejoin the fight as your former character.
  • If you are feeling lazy, it is possible to play Arcade Mode as Player 2.
