Progression and Quests:
Begin by leaving the City of Delphi, defeating monsters, and following the marker to the Parnassus Caves. A rebirth fountain is located near the entrance.
Side Quest: The Grieving Widow
In the City of Delphi, head NNE from the rebirth fountain in Parnassus Cave to find a narrow passage. This leads to a cave where you'll face Cephasus, Master of the Flame. After defeating him and collecting loot, return to Iodame for your reward.
- Reward (Normal): 3000 XP
- Reward (Epic): 35000 XP
- Reward (Legendary): 85000 XP
Continue east from the Parnassus Cave to reach the Parnassus Hinterlands, finding another rebirth fountain. Near the end of this area is the "Parnassus" portal, guarded by a Satyr merchant. Proceed through the Lower War-Camp (which updates your quest) and the Upper War-Camp. Be sure to activate rebirth fountains and stock up on potions, as these areas are heavily populated with monsters. A cave can be found due E in Parnassus Hinterlands and NE in the Lower War-Camp.
After the Lower War-Camp, ascend stone steps to the Upper War-Camp. Here, you'll encounter Hylas, who provides a main quest update. Activate the rebirth fountain. The area is filled with skeletons, and the exit is NW, looping back SE. The camp itself is a large, monster-filled area. Statues of people and a giant serve as a warning of future challenges. It is recommended to clear the Upper War-Camp, then use the portal to unload loot and restock before proceeding.
Following the stone path with statues from the Upper War-Camp leads to the Pythian Caves. Upon entering through heavy wooden doors, they will lock behind you. Inside, you will face the three Gorgon sisters: Medusa (bow and magic, can freeze), Euryale (bow), and Stheno (spear). Attacking them all at once is highly dangerous. The best strategy is to use ranged attacks and a hit-and-run tactic, luring each Gorgon individually. The cave offers just enough space for this, but be cautious not to attract the others.
Lore Note: Gorgons are mythological creatures known for their petrifying gaze. The three sisters are Stheno, Euryale, and Medusa, the only mortal one, famously slain by Perseus.
After defeating the Gorgons, an NPC, Fei Yan, will appear. Speak to her twice to update your main quest.
- Reward (Talk to Fei Yan - Normal): 3000 XP
- Reward (Talk to Fei Yan - Epic): 40000 XP
- Reward (Talk to Fei Yan - Legendary): 90000 XP
Proceed west through heavy doors into an area filled with regular Gorgons, which are easier to defeat, though magic users can be troublesome. Continue east to find the exit to the Athenian Passage.
Outside, activate the rebirth fountain to avoid re-clearing previous areas. A merchant is also present. Continue to Kephisos Valley, where the exit is to the north. To the NNW, you'll find Spartan warriors offering side quests.
Side Quest: Trapped in the Ruins
Speak to the soldier Pausanias in Kephisos Valley about a trapped Limos. Proceed to the stone structure west of the soldiers. You will encounter an ancient Limos, a difficult foe with life leech, poison attacks, and high health. Use hit-and-run tactics, as the Limos is fast and deals significant damage. It will not cross the line of guard soldiers. After defeating it, talk to Pausanias for your reward.
- Reward (Normal): Magical weapon, 3000 XP
- Reward (Epic): Magical weapon, 35000 XP
- Reward (Legendary): Magical weapon, 85000 XP
Continue east from the soldiers to a pass with a rebirth fountain (Monster Encampment). Proceeding east leads to the Athenian Swamps, a dead-end area where, on legendary difficulty, the Hydra can be found. The Hydra is a fast and challenging opponent with numerous attacks; a slow, deliberate approach is recommended for survival.
Side Quest: Spartans Lost
Speak to the soldier Isarchus about a lost patrol. This quest is undertaken later.
