How to upgrade weapons

Alright, let's talk about making your guns hit harder in Atomfall. You can't just pick up a better weapon off the ground for everything; sometimes, you gotta make your own upgrades. The first big step is getting the Gunsmith skill. You'll need to head over to Morris Wick in Wyndham Village, right next to the Bakery. To get the skill from him, you'll need to accuse him of murder at the church and then choose the 'Bargaining' option. If you mess up or he's not there for some reason, don't sweat it. You can also snag it from the D Store Room in the Interchange. It's located directly beneath where you'd put an Atomic Battery to power up Data Store Delta. Just make sure you grab the Data Store D Store Room Key from the guard in that same room.

Once you've got the Gunsmith skill unlocked, you'll need to consume seven Training Stimulants to actually activate it. This adds weapon upgrading to your Crafting tab. Now, here's what you'll need for upgrades: you'll need two of the exact same weapon, some Gun Oil, and Scrap parts. Weapons come in three tiers: Rusty, Stock, and Pristine. The Slatten Dale Outlaws usually rock Rusty gear, while the Protocol soldiers you'll face in Skethermoor will be packing Stock weapons. Since inventory space is super important in Atomfall, you'll need to be smart about what you carry to make sure you can hold onto two of the same weapon when you need them.

Here’s the progression: use two Rusty weapons to craft a Stock one, and then combine two Stock weapons to get a Pristine gun. This not only gives you a better weapon but also unlocks the 'Make do and mend' achievement/trophy. So, plan ahead, keep an eye out for duplicate weapons, and you'll be upgrading in no time!
