Master Battlefield Hardline's Part 66 guide, covering Battlepacks, loadout customization with multiple slots per class, and a detailed breakdown of optics including Red-Dot Sights.
Battlepacks in Battlefield Hardline can be purchased with in-game cash (XP) or real money. They contain XP/rep boosts, melee weapons, cosmetic items like patches and camos, and vouchers for attachments or unlocks. The Battlepack system was adjusted in an April patch to increase the chances of receiving collectibles and vouchers over boosts. You can view and open Battlepacks from the main menu, the pause menu during a match, or your online Battlelog account.
If you have an attachment voucher but have already unlocked the attachment category, you can choose to buy the attachment with XP or save the voucher for a new gun. It's generally better to save the voucher for a headstart on new weapons.
Loadouts
Access your guns, attachments, gadgets, and vehicles loadout menus by pressing Square on the respawn screen during a match, or via the Multiplayer \ Customize menu outside of a match. Battlefield Hardline introduced multiple loadout slots per class, allowing up to five separate loadouts. By default, only one slot is available. The second and third slots unlock by earning 30,000 and 80,000 XP respectively with a class. The fourth slot comes from Battlepacks, and the fifth is a benefit of Premium subscription. You can cycle through loadout slots on the respawn screen by pressing Triangle.
Owners of the Betrayal DLC (including Premium subscribers) have access to a kill-counter for each weapon, displayed on the HUD during play. This feature, added with the Gun Bench in the Betrayal expansion, shows for all loadout weapons, not just those customized at the Gun Bench.
Optics
Sights and scopes are categorized into three types:
- Close-Range: Anything up to 2x zoom.
- Medium-Range: 3.4x to 4x zooms.
- Long-Range: 6x and higher zooms.
Close-range sights and medium-range scopes can be used with any primary gun category, while long-range scopes are exclusive to sniper rifles. Some optics from previous Battlefield titles have been changed or removed, such as the Chinese optics from BF4 and the 40x Ballistic scope. New additions include the Comp M4s, SRS02, and Micro T1 red-dot sights. The 3.4x PK-A scope was replaced by the 3.5x PO, and the 20x Hunter scope was changed to 14x.
In addition to BF4's canted iron-sights, you can now use the new canted RDS (red-dot sight) accessory. The Betrayal DLC introduced the Gun Bench, allowing customization of scope reticles for up to five primary weapons.
Iron Sights
These are the gun's built-in sights used when no other sight or scope is attached. An exception is the F2000, where the "iron sights" function as a low-magnification scope.
Red-Dot Sights (RDS)
This category includes the Reflex, Kobra, Comp M4s, Micro T1, and SRS02 sights. Red-dot sights overcome the obtrusive nature of standard iron sights by mounting an unobstructed circular aperture with a bright marker to indicate the center. They offer no magnification, providing an effective zoom equivalent to aiming down the gun's iron sights normally.
The Reflex sight now features a solid yellow triangular reticle with a thick border. The Russian Kobra sight has a red T-shaped reticle and a slim border. The Comp M4s, SRS02, and Micro T1 are new additions to the Battlefield series.
