Level Overview

Botanic Panic! is the third run-and-gun level in Cuphead, found in Inkwell Isle One. This vibrant and challenging stage introduces players to several plant-based enemies and environmental hazards. Collectibles: Coins

There are 5 hidden coins to find in Botanic Panic!. Collecting all of them is crucial for unlocking new weapons and abilities in the shop.

• Coin 1: Early in the level, after the first set of bouncing mushroom enemies, you'll see a small platform above. Jump onto it, and the coin will be to your right.
• Coin 2: After the section with the flying thorny vines, you'll encounter a series of bouncing flower enemies. A parryable pink flower will appear on a higher platform. Parry it upwards to reach a hidden platform containing the coin.
• Coin 3: Further into the level, after a section with several bouncing mushroom enemies, you'll see a tall, thin plant with a pink bud at the top. Shoot the bud to make it extend upwards, creating a platform. Jump on it and then to the right to find the coin.
• Coin 4: This coin is located in the area with the large Venus flytrap boss. Before engaging it, look for a series of small platforms on the left side of the screen. Carefully jump across them to reach the coin.
• Coin 5: This coin is found in the final section, just before the large plant boss. After navigating a few seed-shooting plants, you'll see a series of platforms leading upwards. The coin is on the highest platform before you reach the final boss arena.

Walkthrough: Section by Section

Section 1: The Bouncing Beginning

You'll start in a lush, green environment. Immediately, you'll face bouncing mushroom enemies. These are easily dispatched with the Peashooter. Continue to the right, and you'll encounter thorny vines that extend from the ground. Dodge these as they emerge. The first coin is located above a small platform after this initial enemy wave.

Section 2: Flower Power and Platforming

This section introduces bouncing flower enemies that spit projectiles. Dodge their attacks and eliminate them. You'll also encounter flying thorny vines. The key here is to use platforming. You'll see a parryable pink flower on a higher platform. To progress and reach Coin 2: Jump towards the pink flower and press the jump button again while in contact with it to perform a parry. This will propel you upwards, allowing you to reach the hidden platform where Coin 2 resides.

Section 3: Tall Plants and Precision

You'll encounter taller, stationary plants that periodically shoot seeds. Be mindful of their firing patterns. This section also features more bouncing mushrooms. You'll reach a tall, thin plant with a pink bud. To reach Coin 3: Shoot the pink bud. This will cause the plant to grow and extend upwards, creating a temporary platform. Quickly jump onto this platform and then to the right to collect Coin 3.

Section 4: The Venus Flytrap Gauntlet

This area is characterized by larger Venus flytrap-like plants that emerge from the ground and shoot projectiles. Some will spit seeds, while others will snap shut. The platforms here can be tricky. To find Coin 4: Before you reach the large Venus flytrap boss arena, look to the left side of the screen. You'll see a series of small, intermittent platforms. Carefully time your jumps to navigate across these platforms to reach Coin 4.

Section 5: The Seed-Spitting Finale

You'll enter the final stretch of the level, leading to a large, stationary plant that acts as a mini-boss. This plant will continuously shoot a barrage of seeds. To find Coin 5: Before you engage the large plant, continue to the right past the previous seed-shooting plants. You'll see a series of platforms that lead upwards. Make your way to the highest platform; Coin 5 is located there.

Boss Strategy: The Large Seed-Spitting Plant

This plant is the final obstacle before completing the level. It remains stationary and fires a relentless stream of seeds in various patterns.

• Attack Patterns: The plant will shoot seeds in a spread pattern, sometimes in arcs, and occasionally in a more concentrated burst.
• Dodging Seeds: This is where precise movement and the Smoke Bomb charm shine.
  • Constant Movement: Never stand still. Keep moving left and right on the platforms to make yourself a harder target.
  • Jump and Dash: use short hops and dashes to weave through the seed projectiles.
  • Smoke Bomb: If you have the Smoke Bomb, use its invincibility frames to dash through dense seed barrages. Time it carefully as the seeds are about to hit you.
  • Platform Awareness: Be aware of the platforms available. Sometimes, jumping to a higher or lower platform is the safest way to avoid a wave of seeds.
• Attacking the Plant: While dodging, aim your Peashooter (or other weapon) at the plant's mouth. It has a clear weak point.
• Parrying: Occasionally, one of the seeds fired by the plant will be pink. Parrying these pink seeds is crucial for survival and gaining height. If you can parry a pink seed, it will give you a significant upward boost, allowing you to evade ground-level seed barrages or reach higher platforms if needed. Look for the pink hue on the seeds and time your parry.
