The Mausoleums are special challenge levels in Cuphead that test your parrying skills and reward you with powerful Super Arts. Finding and completing these spectral gauntlets is essential for unlocking new abilities and progressing towards 100% completion.

Mausoleum Locations

There are three Mausoleum levels, one located in each of the first three Inkwell Isles. They are typically found in secluded areas of the world map, often requiring a specific path or interaction to access. Keep an eye out for their distinct, spectral architecture.

• Mausoleum I: Located in Inkwell Isle I, often accessible after defeating a certain number of bosses.
• Mausoleum II: Found in Inkwell Isle II, typically appearing after progressing through the main boss path.
• Mausoleum III: Situated in Inkwell Isle III, usually unlocked by completing the island's primary boss encounters.

The Mausoleum Challenge

Each Mausoleum presents a unique boss fight against a spectral guardian. The core mechanic of these fights is parrying. You will be tasked with parrying a series of pink, spectral projectiles or enemies. Successfully parrying these builds your super meter. The goal is to fill your super meter completely by parrying, without taking damage, to defeat the guardian and earn your reward.

Super Arts Unlocked

Completing the Mausoleums rewards you with Cuphead's powerful Super Arts:

• Super Art I: Energy Beam: A focused, high-damage beam attack that can be aimed. Unlocked by completing the first Mausoleum.
• Super Art II: Invincibility: Grants temporary invulnerability, allowing you to phase through attacks. Unlocked by completing the second Mausoleum.
• Super Art III: Giant Ghost: Summons a large, homing ghost that attacks enemies. Unlocked by completing the third Mausoleum.

These Super Arts are crucial for tackling later bosses and achieving higher ranks.

Tips for Mausoleum Success

• Master the Parry: The entire challenge revolves around parrying. Practice your timing and learn the rhythm of the spectral projectiles.
• Stay Calm: Panic can lead to mistimed parries and taking damage. Focus on one parry at a time.
• Use Ms. Chalice: If you have the DLC, Ms. Chalice's inherent parry-dash ability makes these challenges significantly easier, as her dash itself can parry.
• Listen to the Cues: The game provides audio cues for parryable objects. Pay attention to these to improve your timing.
• Don't Get Hit: Taking damage will fail the challenge. Prioritize evasion and perfect parries above all else.
