Diaries of the Dead Side Quest on Venice Beach

First off, after grabbing the quest from W.O. Rodriguez, head downstairs and take a left at the bottom. Use that push switch to open the shutters. You'll then need to head southeast, out of the military compound and onto the beach. Keep an eye out for the military convoy Rodriguez mentioned.

Once you reach the convoy, you'll have to fight off a bunch of zombies. After you've cleared them out, look for a laptop behind the central truck. That's where you'll find the memory stick.

As soon as you grab the memory stick, get ready! You'll be attacked by multiple waves of zombies coming from different directions. Rodriguez will be your eyes in the sky here, calling out where they're coming from, so listen closely. You'll mostly face regular zombies, but watch out for the occasional elite Crusher.

After you've dealt with all the waves, a zombie named the Signal Officer will appear. He's got the Comms Area Keycard you need, so take him down and loot it from his body.

With the keycard in hand, head south towards the USMC comms area. Go left once you're inside, and you'll find a keycard reader. Use it to get into the area with the satellite dish. This is where you'll upload the fallen soldiers' letters.

Interact with the satellite dish to start the upload. This will take a little while, and during that time, you'll be swarmed by more zombies. One of them is a mutated zombie named Lt. Bryant. He's a real pain with his long melee attacks, so try to keep your distance and use ranged attacks. If he gets too close, be ready to dodge or block. You'll need to chip away at his health slowly and use the environment to create space if you need to.

Once the attack dies down, you'll find out the upload failed. Interact with the satellite dish again to move the quest forward.

Finally, make your way back to Rodriguez at the tower in the northwest part of the map. Talk to her, and the quest will be complete.
