Learn about Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker's Criterion Dungeons, including how to unlock them, their unique mechanics, party composition, and the rewards you can earn.

Criterion Dungeons in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker are a challenging variant of Variant Dungeons. Unlike Variant Dungeons, Criterion Dungeons feature a fixed party composition of 1 Tank, 1 Healer, and 2 DPS, and do not offer alternate paths. Players have access to a single action, Variant Raise II, which can be used by each player only once per objective completion. Enemies within Criterion Dungeons are significantly more difficult than those in Variant Dungeons, and bosses utilize mechanics similar to those found in extreme trials.

To unlock Criterion Dungeons, players must first complete the Endwalker storyline. Afterward, speak with Osmon in Old Sharlayan (X:12 Y:13.4) to begin the 'A Key to the Past' side quest. This quest requires completing a Variant Dungeon. Upon its completion, speaking with Osmon again grants access to Criterion Dungeons.

Completing the final boss of a Criterion Dungeon rewards players with 4 Coins, a Mount, or an Orchestrion Roll. If a mount does not drop from the chest, it can be purchased from Osmon for 100 Coins, though this requires considerable effort.
