Learn how to capture and recruit enemies in Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest's Prison. Discover strategies for persuading prisoners and the benefits of higher-level prisons.
So, you've been using the Capture/Kidnap skill and now you've got some enemies chilling in your prison! Don't worry, this is a good thing. These captured foes can be persuaded to join your cause and fight for you. You have a couple of options here: you can try to persuade them to join for free, which might take a little time, or you can bribe them with some of your precious resources to speed things up. Eventually, they'll join your ranks, or you can just let them go if you're not feeling it.
Think of these turncoat units like any other recruited units in your castle. They won't be building support levels with anyone, but they're still valuable additions. As you upgrade your prison, you'll be able to hold more prisoners at once, which is super handy.
Here's a cool trick: if you're playing on Classic mode on higher difficulties, these prison units can be great for sacrificing as cannon fodder. Plus, some of them are really unique! For example, the Spear Fighter class is a gem you can't get otherwise in Conquest. If you happen to miss out on capturing a specific unit during the story, don't sweat it too much. The DLC map Museum Melee brings them all back as minibosses, so you'll have another shot at capturing them there.
Just a heads-up for Conquest players: Niles is the one who has the Kidnap skill. In Birthright, it's Orochi with the Capture skill. If you're playing Revelations, you get access to both characters. So, if you're keen on stocking up on prison units, make sure you invest in and level up either Niles or Orochi!
