Trinkets and Their Uses

Rescuing Charles: Inspect files on the whiteboard to find 'The End (5/8) - Robot Puppets'. Interact with the large life support device and then the computer. Read all files on the PC, especially the diagram. Return to the far left and interact with the chain console control panel. Adjust the lamps to match the computer diagram: press the purple/orange button twice, the yellow/green button once, and the blue button twice. Stairs will appear. Head down into the Secret Corridor. Examine the courier clothes if desired. Enter the doorway at the far left. Examine the diary and then the Beta Type Consciousness Transmission Device to find 'The End (6/8) - The Research Information of Consciousness Transmission Device'. Speak with Charles, then go right to grab the Crowbar. Use the Crowbar on Charles's holding cell door. This unlocks the 'The Story of Rescuing the White Mustache' Achievement.

Decision Time: You will be presented with two questions. The first answer has no effect. The second choice determines which of two Achievements you unlock and affects a new endgame File. You cannot unlock both Achievements in one playthrough without reloading a save.

• Turn it off: Choosing to 'Turn off the equipment' unlocks 'The Liberation' Achievement and the 'The End (7/8) - The History Between Edward and Luna' File. You can then skip to 'The Final Confrontation'.

Keep it on: Choosing to 'Leave the equipment on' unlocks 'The Benevolence' Achievement. You will not be able to unlock one of the new endgame Files. You can then skip to 'The Final Confrontation'.

The Final Confrontation: Regardless of your choice, head back down to the secret room where you rescued Charles. There is no turning back once you descend the stairs.
