Gameplay Basics
General Tips
Movement, Explore!
Always explore the map to gather resources, capture buildings for economic boosts, and increase your visibility. If you don't loot, your opponent will. Increase your movement stat and utilize a secondary Wielder to speed up looting. A secondary Wielder can collect all items, allowing your main Wielder to focus on more battles per turn.
Use the ALT key frequently to highlight interactable objects, including hidden items.
Make a Strategy
Decide on your goals: which units to aim for and what research to prioritize. Focusing on a few units makes research cheaper and reinforcements faster but limits your spell variety. Experiment in the early maps (1-3) of most campaigns to discover preferred tactics and units before finalizing your plan for the final map.
Make Use of Your Build Slots
Towns have:
- 7 small building slots
- 3 medium building slots
- 2 large building slots
Large Settlements have:
- 3 small building slots
- 2 medium building slots
- 1 large building slot
Small Settlements have:
- 2 small building slot
- 1 medium building slot
Consider these options for free building slots:
- If you lack rare resources, build multiple Markets (up to 5) for better trade prices, unlocking higher-tier units and reducing upgrade costs.
- If you're low on units, focus on one unit type and use Rally Points for reinforcements.
- If an enemy is approaching, build a Tower. They take one turn to construct, can destroy dangerous units like Cheluns or Necromancers, and can soften up enemy armies for future battles.
Artifacts
You will find various Artifacts throughout your campaign. Even negative artifacts can be sold at an Artifact shop or given to another Wielder. Artifact sets are powerful, especially early on, though they are not enabled in the base Arleon, Rana, or Loth & Barya campaigns. Mix and match artifacts as needed, as some individual artifacts are stronger than sets.
