Gameplay Basics
- General Tips
- Movement, Explore! Always explore to find resources, capture buildings, and gain visibility. Looting is crucial; if you don't, your opponent will. Increase your movement stat and use a secondary Wielder to loot faster and more efficiently, allowing your main Wielder to handle more fights per turn. Use the ALT key frequently to see interactable objects, including hidden ones.
- Make a strategy Decide on your unit goals and research path. Focusing on a few units makes research cheaper and reinforcements quicker but limits flexibility and spell variety. Experiment during the first few maps of most campaigns, as they are generally easier, to discover preferred tactics and units before the final map.
- Make use of your build slots Towns offer 7 small, 3 medium, and 2 large building slots. Large Settlements offer 3 small, 2 medium, and 1 large slot. Small Settlements offer 2 small and 1 medium slot. If you have free slots: consider building multiple markets (up to 5) for better trade prices, unlocking higher-tier units, and cheaper/faster upgrades. If you are running low on units, focus on one unit type and reinforce with Rally Points. If an enemy is approaching, build a tower; they take one turn to build, are powerful, and can damage dangerous creatures or soften enemy armies for future battles.
- Artifacts You will find various artifacts, some good, some bad. Even bad artifacts can be sold at an Artifact shop or given to another Wielder. Artifact sets are powerful, especially early on, though not enabled in the base campaigns (Arleon, Rana, Loth & Barya). Mix and match artifacts as needed, as some individual artifacts are stronger than sets.
