Learn about new items and artifacts in Songs of Conquest! This guide covers gameplay basics, exploration tips, strategic planning, town building, and artifact usage.

Hey there! So you're diving into Songs of Conquest and want to know about the cool new stuff you can find, especially items and artifacts? Awesome! This guide is going to walk you through the essentials, from getting around the map to making the most of what you find.

Gameplay Basics

First off, always, always explore. Seriously, tap that ALT key often – it's your best friend for seeing what you can interact with, even stuff hidden behind scenery. Looting is key; grab resources to boost your economy and capture buildings for more goodies. If you don't grab it, your opponent will! To make looting even faster, try to increase your movement stat and get a secondary Wielder. This way, your main Wielder can focus on battles while your secondary snags everything.

Make a Strategy

Before you jump in, have a plan. Think about which units you want to focus on and what research you're aiming for. Specializing in a few units makes research cheaper and reinforcements faster, but you'll be less flexible with spells. Don't stress too much about having the perfect plan on the first few maps of a campaign; use those easier maps to experiment and figure out what units and tactics you like best. This way, you'll be ready with a solid strategy for the tougher, final maps.

Make Use of Your Build Slots

Your towns and settlements have different building slots, so use them wisely:

  • Towns: 7 small, 3 medium, 2 large slots
  • Large Settlements: 3 small, 2 medium, 1 large slot
  • Small Settlements: 2 small, 1 medium slot

If you've got empty slots, consider these options:

  • If you're short on rare resources, build more Markets (up to 5). They offer better trade prices, which is crucial for unlocking high-tier units and making upgrades cheaper and faster.
  • If you're struggling to reinforce your armies, focus on one unit type and use Rally Points to bring them in.
  • If an enemy is on the move, build a Tower! They only take one turn to build and can be super effective against tough units like Cheluns or Necromancers. Even if you can't wipe out their whole army, softening them up is a great advantage for your next fight.

Artifacts

You'll stumble upon all sorts of Artifacts during your adventures. Some are great, some... not so much. Don't worry if you find a less-than-ideal one; you can always hold onto it to sell later at an Artifact shop or give it to another Wielder. Keep an eye out for artifact sets too! While they aren't active in the base campaigns (Arleon, Rana, Loth & Barya), they can be incredibly powerful, especially early on, so they're definitely worth aiming for if you get the chance.
