Master the Taris Duel Ring in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Learn strategies for Marl, Twitch, and Bendak Starkiller, including tips for saving levels and using grenades.
Walkthrough
- 1Meet Canderous: An alien will approach you outside, asking if you won the swoop race. Confirm and he'll direct you to the Upper City cantina to meet Canderous.
- 2Acquire Droid: Inside the cantina, Canderous will speak to you. He needs the launch codes for Davik's flagship, the Ebon Hawk, to bypass Sith blockades. Agree to the deal, and he'll instruct you to go to the droid shop and mention his name. The owner will sell you a droid that can infiltrate the military base.
- 3Prepare for Duel Ring: Before entering the duel ring, it's highly recommended to visit Keebla's shop and stock up on mines (frag, plasma) and grenades (frag, concussion). This is crucial if your character has not invested points in the demolitions skill.
- 4Duel Ring Fights: The subsequent fights in the duel ring can be challenging, especially if you've been saving your character levels.
- Marl: This duelist uses a double-bladed sword and the master power attack. If overwhelmed, retreat to heal. For a strategic approach, run around the arena, plant mines, and lure Marl into them. Alternatively, you can intentionally lose, then plant more mines in the rematch, as planted mines persist. About six plasma mines are usually sufficient. If you lack demolitions skill, use grenades: throw one, retreat, heal if necessary, and repeat.
- 5Twitch: The Taris Dueling Champion, Twitch, is more proficient with a blaster than a sword. Use your special melee attacks. For a level-saving strategy, use concussion grenades to stun Twitch, then attack with your sword. If he's not stunned, throw another grenade. After a successful stun, retreat to avoid melee combat. Continue this pattern until he's defeated. If he engages in melee, treat him as you would Marl. Glitch Note: Collecting winnings from the Twitch duel after the Bendak duel can yield extra credits and a Bendak blaster.
- 6Bendak Starkiller: Bendak has a bounty on his head, obtainable by defeating him in a death match. This fight is tough. He begins by throwing grenades before using his blaster. Focus on stunning him with concussion grenades. Use plasma and frag grenades if available. Monitor your health closely, as his blaster feats can significantly deplete it. Consider using an energy shield to mitigate blaster damage. For a level-saving strategy, start with a concussion grenade, then throw more grenades. If stunned, attack with your sword. When the stun wears off, retreat. If he switches to melee, plant mines and lure him to them. Continue stunning and attacking, healing as needed. Be aware of potential stuns from his attacks. This fight may require multiple attempts.
